Very long comment threads don't display right now (can only view about half the thread)
Why is is that I can't view all the comments in very long threads any more - only about half of them?
I write the Project Runway and Top Chef live blog posts for Gawker. This week, I discovered that I can't view all of the the live-blog comment threads any more. Last week's Top Chef live blog comment thread has 915 comments in it, but I can download only 329 of them before the "more threads" link disappears. There's no way to get at the remaining 600 comments or so. (See: http://gawker.com/5381747/live-bloggi...)
If I change my setting to "oldest first," I can see even less of the comments - only about 160 or so. And bizarrely, in that view, you don't see any responses to any comments!
I tried to download the Project Runway thread and got the same problem - I can only view about 250 of the 600 or so comments. (See: http://gawker.com/5382741/live-bloggi...)
Looks like the recent site changes crewed up unusually long comment threads. Any thread over a few hundred comments, apparently, can no longer be read in it's entirety.
(I'm using Firefox on WIndows. But also tried using Safari on a Mac and got the same problem.)

Inappropriate?I'm seeing the same problem on Jalopnik. For example, at this writing today's QOTD (http://jalopnik.com/5386716/whats-the...) has 329 comments per the front page of Jalopnik. But, if you view the post, you can only see about 160-170 comments (the posts page reports that it had 169).
I’m not here to beta-test Gawker's code

Inappropriate? This is STILL A PROBLEM. It is impossible to view over half the comments in last night's Top Chef Live Blog thread: http://gawker.com/5387011/live-bloggi...
This is apparenlty a problem affecting ALL GAWKER MEDIA sites. For any post that has more than 300 comments or so, it is impossible to view a huge chunk of the comments. Half the threads are un-downloadable.
Could somebody at Gawker please acknowledge this problem, and let us know if you can fix it?? THANK YOU!!!
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate? Also, the option to show threads in reverse chronological order if you are logged in isn't working either.

Inappropriate? This is a major problem. Fix it please.

Inappropriate?I have the same problem - worse, I have notifications in 'My Activity' which tell me three people have responded to a comment that I made... but my comment is too old to show up in the list, so I can't read the replies.
Furthermore, similar to above, changing my settings to 'Oldest First' appears to do absolutely nothing at all - I get exactly the same comments whatever the setting is set to. I've tried dumping my cache and force-refreshing and everything.
Equally-curiously, when I click "Show Featured Threads Only" (which as I understand it should include the comment in question, since I have a star on Kotaku, the site in question) I don't get an "Older Threads" link at all!
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?I would think the liveblogs bring in a lot of traffic. Please fix, darlings!
I’m over it.

Inappropriate?Even when I go to my profile, it won't link to the correct comment.

Inappropriate? This problem has now gotten WORSE. All "More threads" links have disappeared altogether.
So now you can't read past the first page of ANY comment thread long enough to extend beyond a single page. The older comments in the thread are just gone for all time.
GAWKER PLEASE ACKNOWLEDGE THIS PROBLEM AND TELL US WHAT'S GOING ON -- THANK YOU!!! It's been TWO WEEKS now!!!
Sorry to shout, but my frustration here is bringing out the all-cap demons in me. :-)
I’m angry

Inappropriate? This is a problem on Jez and Gawker . There is only one page of comments visible and no option to see anything past the first page. I know sometimes things have to get worse to get better so we have hit bottom, right? Things can only improve!

Inappropriate? The "Older threads" link -- which disappeared over the weekend -- is now back. Also, I noticed that the "Oldest first" option works again.
BUT the problem reported above is still a problem. I can only load half the comments on very long threads, like this "Top Chef Live blog" one: http://gawker.com/5392096/live-bloggi...
In the post above, there are actually over 900 comments, but you can only view about 500. Also, the counter at the top of the post is incorrect - it shows "500" instead of "900."
So changes are happening, which is encouraging ... :-) But still no solution to this particular problem. -
Inappropriate? This appears to have been fixed. I can download complete Live Blog comment threads again! Hooray!
Thanks guys. Sorry I got so cranky and impatient in my comments over the past couple weeks. :-)
I’m happy
