Entering the tag "no" shows up as "no $"
I tried to add the tag "no" to a topic I created, but it shows up in the tag listing as "no $". what's going on?
For example:

Inappropriate? You are right! That is so weird. I'll log it in our bug tracking and see if we can figure it out. Thanks for reporting it, Dustin.

glad I could help! :) -
Inappropriate?Ok, it was some bizarre database glitch that I can't really explain but it's been fixed.
I’m amused

Good enough for me. -
Inappropriate?hm, why can't I use the "+" character in my tags?
-
Inappropriate? Are you trying to *just* use the "+" or in conjunction with letters? Tags become URLS (when you click on a tag, you get a list of all topic that have that tag attached in that community) so there has to be at least one alphanumeric character in the tag.
I'm not sure if there's also a limitation on being able to use characters at all that can not be included in a URL string. I'll have to find out. -
Inappropriate?When I try to add "Plus+" I get "plus".
-
Inappropriate?Ready for some weirdness?
When I enter "one + one" I get "one one".
When I enter "one + two" I get "one + two".
I previously thought that perhaps plus signs work like a separator, much like commas. Ergo, when I enter "testing, this phrase" I end up with two separate tags: "testing" and "this phrase".
When I enter "trying + another example" I get "trying + another example"
When I enter anything else, my brain hurts and I have to go lie down.

Curious. Very curious. :D -
Inappropriate?I know at least one of our developers can get to the bottom of this as soon as he has the time. We are bound to get this figured out.
-
Inappropriate? When you tag a topic, we take the name you entered and generate a "canonical" name for it. You can see this name in the URL (e.g. /getsatisfaction/tags/foo_bar_baz for a tag called "foo+bar+baz").
When you enter "Test+", the + is stripped out to make the canonical version. However, there's already a tag with a canonical name called "test", so it just uses the existing tag instead of creating a new one. Tags are global and not unique to companies.
Sorry about the confusion.
I’m indifferent
