Inappropriate?Sometimes widgets have conflicts with site Javascript or CSS which we don't control. Can you post a link to a page where we can verify the problem?
-
The issue can be seen at http://baltimoresun.com -- note the feedback widget attaches itself to the page - instead of always being visible. -
Inappropriate?Okay, please move the javascript to the end of the html, after the end of the container div but just before the /body tag. That should fix it.
I’m happy to help
-
Let me try it. -
I have the changed made to our development environment to no avail.
Essentially I moved the JS to the end of html and no cigar. It does not work in IE6 V6.2900.2180
Thank you in advance for your help - we are redesigning all of Tribune Company's web sites (chicagotribune.com, baltimoresun.com, sun-sentinel.com, and 7 more) and we have a real strict QA. Unfortunately we still need to support IE6 -
No problem. Is the QA site behind a firewall (i.e. can we view the page)? -
Just to clarify the feedback JS is now no longer within the our container div tag,
as before, but it just is not scrolling with user. The change is on our dev environment. Our site is live and I cannot do a build right now. Let me see if I could replicate the issue on a test site for you to see. -
Please review http://baltimoresun.com - The code has been changed- now the Widget JS is out of the container div tag now, but as you can see, it still does not scroll correctly in IE6. -
Hi Teresa - Thor's in route back from NYC now so he may not have a chance to look until tomorrow. :) -
Ok thank you Amy. -
Inappropriate?Thank you I will have a test page for you to review tomorrow.
-
Inappropriate?Teresa, is there any chance you can send me a screenshot of what you're seeing? Just want to make sure we're seeing the same thing.

Notice how the Feedback tab does does not stay on page it scrolls off with content. -
Inappropriate?Thor, were you able to replicate the issue?
-
Inappropriate? We didn't see this issue, we only saw a horizontal scrollbar. Have you tried this on multiple PCs? We'll try again to replicate.
-
Inappropriate?Yes we were able to replicate it on 3 other PCs with IE6. I also was able to replicate it on as Mac with virtual IE6, and a PC with virtual IE6.
fyi: The widget works fine in FF and IE7 and IE8. -
Inappropriate?Okay, we're zeroing in on a solution. This doesn't happen if the tab is positioned on the left, btw.
-
Inappropriate?I am having this problem as well, except that I also see it in IE7. I previously sent instructions as to how to view on our site.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate? We're working on a fix and hope to release it early next week. Note that affixing the tab anywhere but the right appears to avoid this problem.
The company says
this solves the problem
-
Inappropriate?Hi Thor, we're having the same problem in internet explorer 7 - the feedback tab doesn't scroll - but it works great in Firefox.
Btw we did try to place it on the left side - but that didn't fix the problem -
Thanks for the details, Chris. We're preparing a release that will go out tomorrow night that will address the IE issues. -
Inappropriate? When I scroll down my screen, the feedback Tab just stay in the top, it is not follow the screen. This problem happens when I run on IE7, I change to Firefox, I can run it well. Please help me solve the problem, here is the link: http://meta-x.com/cdiscbuilder/.
Please help me as soon as possible.

The Feedback Tab can not stay on the screen in Internet Explorer 7. -
Inappropriate?I also see no change...did this fix end up going out last night as you'd planned?
-
Inappropriate?Hi all,
The fixes to IE are in the process of being deployed to our servers as we speak. You should see the layout problems go away today. -
Inappropriate? Thanks, the updated widget now works great in IE7! However, in IE8 the widget floats only if you go into "compatibility mode"; in the normal IE8 mode it again fails to scroll with the page.
The unfortunate thing is that with Windows Update on by default, most of our users are going to be on IE8, so this case remains important. -
Inappropriate?I'm having some really strange scrolling issues with IE8. The Feedback widget starts out in the right position but when I scroll it moves quickly down the screen (and sometimes off screen). Then when scrolling back up it moves further up from where it started

It works perfectly in ff and chrome, if only the rest of the world would stop using IE we wouldn't have this problem
I’m bugged with IE

Inappropriate? Thanks for the details. We're working on it.

Inappropriate?Hi Ben,
I recently added some code to keep the tab's position fixed in IE 6 & 7. I just took a look at your site in IE 6, 7, & 8 and was unable to reproduce the problem you're seeing.
Does it happen every time you scroll? I noticed there's a Javascript error in your wordpress theme's functions.js file. This probably has nothing to do with it, but worth looking into.
Line 2. Char 2.
"null" is null or not an object.
I'll have some other folks take a look as well.
I’m confused
-
Tedd,
I've asked a couple friends to look at it on IE as well and they see the same thing. The tab starts out fine, then when i scroll down it appears to scroll much faster than the page and will quickly disappear. Then when scrolling back up to the top it ends up slightly higher then where it started. Here's a capture of what I'm seeing:

Inappropriate?Just to clarify my bug report, on multiple machines running IE8 on Windows XP, the widget when placed on the right floats only if you go into "compatibility mode"; in the normal IE8 mode it stays at the top of the page.
I don't see any jumping around like Ben reports, maybe this is because his widget is on the left or because he is running Vista. -
Inappropriate? Thanks all the help! I'm going to get to the bottom of this.
Stay tuned.
I’m confident
-
Inappropriate? In the past I've tried the feedback tab at Zen Desk and that seems to work perfectly on all browsers. I'm not a code expert by any means, but maybe looking at theirs could help. Just thought I'd throw that out there...
-
Inappropriate?Thanks!
I'm going to remove the hacks I added for IE6 & IE7. It should be live in the next day or two, when we do our next production deploy.
So basically the widget will behave as it did before. In all "Grade A" browsers it will scroll down the page with you, but in IE6 & IE7 it will stay fixed at the top of the page. -
Inappropriate? We really want it for www.trustworks.com, but the feedback widget seems to be a disaster in IE6... Can you help??
-
Inappropriate? You can see the terrible IE6 problem at www.trusttesting.com (you can log in with the username "feedbackbug@trustworks.com", and the password is "feedbackbug".
We would also really prefer to be ~30% from the BOTTOM on the right side, instead of ~30% from the TOP... is that tough luck, or is there a way we can move the widget?
(BTW, I *feel* for you guys, fighting with the IE releases; JS compatibility has been a nightmare for us too)
I’m aggravated
-
Inappropriate?Hi guys, any progress on this? It's been quite a while...most of our customers use IE, and the feedback tab still doesn't float for them.
-
Hi Adam. I'm working on pulling someone in to give you an update.
