Feedback widget causes security prompts on SSL secured site
I like the idea of embedding the Feedback widget on my own site the problem is that it doesn't work on an SSL secured site.
When you use it on a SSL site IE prompts the user to show non secure content. Bummer.

Inappropriate?Anything ever happen with this? I'm trying to hack it in by switching up the URLs given, but still have some mixed content errors (that might be my own code anyways).
I’m anxious

Inappropriate?Tim: I checked into this a bit more, and we haven't implemented it yet, but we still plan on it. It might take a bit longer, possibly a month or even longer. It's less of a priority, but I know that folks here are keen on doing it.

Inappropriate?Looks like trying to access the widget via SSL redirects to non-SSL. Did this ever get implemented? We really need this functionality.
I’m concerned
-
Inappropriate?Not yet.

Inappropriate? Is there some sort of roadmap for Get Satisfaction functionality where we can see what you guys are working on? It seems like this is one of those things that we've been asking about for a long time.
Are you guys going to implement this and do you have an (approximate) time frame in which it will be out?
I’m only asking because everyone else is thinking the same
-
Yes, we have thought about it, and I'd love to see it. More here in this topic: http://getsatisfaction.com/getsatisfa... -
Inappropriate?Hi. We are a health website and we also need HTTPS - IE is throwing up ugly warnings. Please help. Need Urgently.
Thanks,
Sarah

Hi Sarah - I had the same problem, which I worked around by degrading to a link for IE browsers. In other words, we use the widget in non-IE browsers, and link to our Get Satisfaction page for IE. I'm happy to provide more detail if you're interested. -
Hi Chris,
Thanks! It sounds like a good solution. Can you pl send me pointers to sarah@trialx.org
Thanks,
Sarah -
Inappropriate? It sounds to me like GetSatisfaction.com's dev resources need feature bounties. This is an obvious feature to add, so the problem must be too many things to do. Money talks, right?
-
Inappropriate?I had the same problem with Google Analytics in the beginning. They have now solved the problem. Maybe their solution could work for Get Satisfied?
-
Inappropriate?Hello, I'd just like to add my voice to this feature request. For now we are going to remove the widget from all but our unsecured homepage.
I’m hopeful for this feature in the future.
-
Inappropriate?Just a heads-up. We made this fix several weeks ago, and now our feedback widget is compatible with SSL-secured sites. Thanks for your patience!
I’m relieved

this solves the problem

Inappropriate? Thanks for seeing this through! We've tested and deployed the new version. It is a MUCH better experience for our Win/IE users.
I’m thankful

Inappropriate? We are having issues with Chrome and SSL. We just signed up and it's not working. Removing the widget from any page is not an option in a private beta. And we are trying to roll out TODAY!
I’m frustrated
-
This needs to be a separate topic. Can you clarify there whether this is working fine on other browsers? -
Inappropriate? The code calls http for the external assets - css and javascript, etc. so when the page itself is requested via ssl, the browser throws warnings about mixed content...browser doesn't matter...

Inappropriate? We just implemented Get Satisfaction in our Web application. It looks like the SSL support is included in the javascript (which is awesome, by the way), but for some reason I am still getting a "some content is non-secure" message in IE.
On a potentially related note, I am also getting a javascript error when I click the feedback tab:
$("recaptcha_response_field") is null
The significant observation here is that this error is reported to be encountered in http://api.recaptcha.net/js/recaptcha..., note that it is http, not https. Could this be the non-secure resource that IE is whining about?
I’m frustrated, but patiently trying to understand the underlying issues.

I'm working on the fixes right now. -
Sure hope this gets fixed soon. We want to adopt the Feedback widget, but just can’t without this. -
These fixes were deployed 12 days ago. Are you using the most recent widget code? If so, is there an implementation I can look at, because we are not seeing any problems on our side. On a side note, we should start a new problem topic if this is a new problem. -
We’re still seeing it. http://getsatisfaction.com/getsatisfa... -
Inappropriate? For what it's worth, we stopped seeing the IE non-secure message about 12 days ago when you deployed the fix. It has been working well for us over SSL since then.
I’m thankful
