Inappropriate?Well, you can't. You can participate with them on our site, but all of the discourse on Get Satisfaction is public. We don't have a private messaging system set up, and we may not add one. We're pretty big proponents of having all the conversation in our system be open and transparent. That decision isn't set in stone, though, but it's currently the way things work.
That said, we might add features that do allow you to send messages to your contacts. As we've envisioned it, these contacts won't necessarily be like "friends" you might have on other social networking sites. Rather, they might be better thought of as a group of other people you want to follow or refer to because they always have great answers or expertise that you can tap into when you need advice.
But, as I say, we always want feedback about this, so let us know how you want to use contacts.
I’m adding you to my contact list!

Inappropriate?Hi Eric - thanks.
I see your point, but I find it strange that I can't invite say my database of members, then not be able to contact them. A good feature would be that if a topic is created I can send this to my contacts list and not just 5 people - can you do that?
Thanks.
Peter -
Inappropriate? That is exactly the kind of thing we need! Yes. We need you to be able to, in some way, query your group of reliable folks who can either help you out or help out another one of your contacts. Perfect example of what we need.
-
Inappropriate?Good - hope to see it added soon.
Regards,
Peter -
Inappropriate?i would like to be able to either:
-submit a question or comment privately to a contact, or
-submit a question or comment PUBLICLY to a contact. contacts could have public discussion threads on their profile page, as they do now, but the discussions could be initiated on their profile page. your system could use some intelligence to determine if my question is related to an existing thread, product, or company (associated with that contact), and ask me if i want to add my post to one of those threads, products, or companies. -
Inappropriate?Well, as I say, we don't have private messaging, but since I first answered this topic many moons ago, we have decided that some sort of private messaging is something we do want to implement.
That second request of yours isn't possible yet, but that is a great idea. I also love the idea of publicly finding other contacts who have similar questions to you -- or who have "solved" problems that are in your area of interest . It sounds like that's sort of what you are saying. I would love to be able to find the expert, for example, who would be the ideal person to answer my question about my iPhone. Great points; thanks for sharing that.
I’m happy

Inappropriate?I would love to see a way to message a contact 1-1?
-
We'll have private messaging at some point, but it may still be awhile before we implement that. -
Inappropriate?Hullo... A little "up" for this topic ! Me too, I'm very astonished not to have the possibility of speaking with the friend who first invited me here.
Of course, discussions of assistance can be public, because it may be useful for many people ; but sometimes, we just want to say "hello sweety", and this could (should !) be available on our profiles.
If not... where's the interest to see which are our contacts in the profile, if we can't call them ? (to even reconsider a discussion of assistance, or else).
I’m expecting the owner reads me ! :D
