Make it easier to tell if you're logged in from the front page

The new log in page looks great, but after I logged in it kicked me back to the main page, and I couldn't tell that I was logged in. I had to click on "log in", and then at that point I saw my user name, so I had to click on that to get to the rest of the options for my account.
