Merge Duplicate topics
There should be an option either for the company or for everyone to mark ideas as duplicate of another and somehow merge then together so that they are all under the same topic and followers are tallied together while the original topic is either closed and added as a link to the original, or added as another comment.
This is a classic functionality of most bug tracking systems and Ubuntu brainstorm has implemented it nicely as well and is generally a good option to have on any problem & suggestion tracking system as duplcates tend to occur regularly

The irony is delicious (like cake!). It just goes to show that this is needed. In my defence however, I did look at the related topics but with a title like that, it's not wonder I missed it :-/ -

Inappropriate?Really enjoying testing the new beta tools for admins, and I appreciate the ability to redirect a topic to a new one. But, it would be very very very useful to be able to merge topics together so that all information, feedback, questions, followup can exist on one happy location. And then the page could literally be redirected (think Wikipedia). If you would like more details, or use cases, I'm happy to share them.

They *do* support redirects, just not full on merges. ( yet =P )

Thanks for feedback, Thomas Knoll. I can definitely see the use-case for that. Conceptually it makes a lot of sense. Design-wise it's certainly a challenge. But we'll discuss!
