Recent Activity under the dashboards doesn't always show anything.
When I look at the dashboard of someone who entered an idea, there is a section called Recent Activity. On some of the dashboards, I can see their activities (the ideas they posted and replies). But, on most of them, there is nothing showing under the Recent Activities even though they have entered ideas.
I reported this before and you fixed it, but apparently it didn't work for all users' dashboards.
Can you fix this?

I have this problem, too!
Tell me when someone solves it.
The more people who report this problem, the more it gets noticed.

Inappropriate?Hi Cindy,
we're preparing a major upgrade to the dashboards that will fix the caching issue you describe once and for all! Thanks for the heads up. -
Inappropriate? One thing to keep in mind: If you are looking at someone's dashboard and they are participating in a company section that is "private" -- not enabled for searching -- that content won't appear on their dashboard.
-
Right now, our whole company is set up for private use. So, does that mean we won't be able to look at another person's dashboard and see their ideas if they entered them through fastpass? We were thinking the dashboards were a good quick way to see all of the ideas of one person in one place. -
Our system wasn't specifically designed to be a private space; it was designed to be public, so dashboards are public. To mask your company from search, we have to mask any content in your company section from public-facing pages. -
Inappropriate?Hi Cindy,
Right, content posted in a community that is currently marked "private" will not show up on user dashboards. If it did, it would be a way for other users to find private communities. -
Inappropriate?OK, I get that. But even if my customer is logged in as themselves, they cannot see the topics they posted through Fastpass because we are still listed as "private" in Get Satisfaction?
it seems to me that a user should be able to see their own posts on their dashboard no matter what. How do they follow their own topics if they cannot see them?
And, yes, Eric, I know it wasn't designed for a private application. But, when GS said that you can "turn off the capability to find it in the search" in order to make it seem private, we didn't realize that also turns off much of the functionality!
I’m hoping this will change
-
Cindy, notwithstanding what Amy and Eric said, you're absolutely right that users should see all their own activity, and this is the direction we're going with the upcoming dashboard redesign. So your message is heard loud and clear! -
Inappropriate?Hi Cindy,
They can follow their posts via the email notifications that get sent to them when there is new activity.
If you'd like us to make your community public, I can go ahead and turn that on for you. The effect will be immediate and new content posted will start showing up on user dashboards.
You're right that it would be nice if a user could still see their own content even if the community they're posting to is private. However, because "private" wasn't built as a feature -- rather it's just a by-product of our current approval system -- I'm sure you can understand why we didn't take that into consideration when coding the user dashboard.
That being said, we plan to do a complete overhaul on user dashboards at some point. When we do that, we can take that use-case into consideration.
We are also considering various options for meeting the needs of organizations that need private spaces. No ETA on this yet, though. -
Inappropriate? Thanks everyone. I do understand what you are saying; especially since I am in the software industry and run into these same types of issues.
Amy, before we make it public, I need a better understanding of what that will mean. When you get a minute, if you could reply to a question I wrote this morning about going public and fast pass, that will help some. We obviously have some decisions to make about the best way to move forward! -
I responded to your other topic, Cindy. :)
