What does "Unofficial Community-Powered Support" me to me as the limitedly-powered admin?
Can you explain "unofficial community-powered support?" And what my privileges as a limited administrator are?
Also, is it the hope that the company will eventually claim the account that I just made, and then I'll lose administrative privileges? (Fine with me. Just curious about how this works.)

Inappropriate?Hi, Jesse. When there are no employees to represent a company, that company will be identified as "unofficial." When you create a company, as the creator, we let you add extra info like description, links, etc. And, we let you get widget codes -- things that might make getting started easier if you have to wait for us to approve your employee status. However, these abilities aren't as extensive as an employee administrator. So, you don't have full access to the admin section.
Hope this helps!

Inappropriate?Hi Jesse... An additional question. Did you indicate that you were an employee when you created the community? Or are you a customer who has created the community?
Either way, as Eric mentions, you have limited access to a few features to get the community set up -- though what you have access to varies depending on whether you set it up as a customer or employee.
However, if you are a customer and at some point an employee comes in and successfully claims it, then yes, you will lose those privileges at that time. -
Inappropriate?Oh wonderful. I was a little worried. I just wanted a question answered, and GS has been really helpful in the past few weeks.
And I did not say that I was an employee when i registered.
I’m a bit relieved.

Inappropriate?I'm just curious, Jesse, what were you worried about?
I'm glad that you've found GS to be helpful!

Inappropriate?I was just concerned that I'd find myself in charge of a company's tech support. I wasn't sure if it was alright to create an account for a company I wasn't a part of.
I’m sheepish.

Inappropriate?Ah. Interesting. I hadn't thought about that as a potential concern but I could see how you might think that.
Yeah, no responsibility to provide support for a community when you've added it as a customer. It's just meant to be a place for customers to gather to share ideas and help each other. And you never know, sooner or later an employee may come along and participate.
