Birthday reminders for Gmail contacts
Please add a birthday field to Gmail contacts which is automatically shown on the calendar. I know many people also require this feature.

Plus this would allow better synchronisation with Evolution contacts/calendar (maybe other software too?) I copied all my local contacts into a Google address book but found the birthdays weren't kept, so I have to maintain three separate address books (one Google one, accessible on both of my computers, and a local one on each).
I’m confident

Inappropriate? This seems like a no-brainer. Hopefully they'll add this before too long.
-
Inappropriate?yay! Birthday is there already - just open any contact for edit. And you can also add other dates, like Anniversary and so on...
now let's wait for ability to push to Calendar :)
I’m happy

Inappropriate?yeah, they moved that across from the beta contact web interface a little while ago...
but they still need to include it in Android's contacts - it's not available there yet...
hopefully these issues (and others) will be resolved with the donut update :) -
Inappropriate? You can try my JavaScript App:

Unfortunately, you can't setup notifications for the Contacts' birthdays and events calendar. So if I want to get an email reminder, I still have to use a regular calendar to do this. -
You can copy events to your calendar though. -
See my comment below - to setup notifications you can use http://contact-birthdays.appspot.com. -
Inappropriate?Additionally, you can't add other events (such as Birthdays for people not in Contacts, like my nieces & nephews) to this calendar.
Looks like I'll stick with Frank Glaser's script to copy the Birthdays over to an actual "My Calendars" Birthday calendar.
(Thanks Frank! http://code.google.com/p/gcalbirthdays/ )
I’m disappointed
-
Inappropriate?Google sort of implemented this.(for details see http://getsatisfaction.com/google/top...)
Unfortunately, with no ability to add notifications for this calendar, and the fact that anniversaries don't seem to be added, I still can't use this yet.
I’m disappointed by Google, yet again.
-
Inappropriate? You can also try using http://contact-birthdays.appspot.com, besides the google calendar integration, it also has a nice interface to edit the birthdays for all the contacts, and allows to set notifications (Google's feature doesn't).
I’m thankful for the notifications
-
Inappropriate?Try google.com/calendar -> Settings ->Calendars->Browser public calendars->Fun Calendars: Contacts' birthdays and events
:)

Inappropriate?dude.... you must work for google or something
was that there all along?
why do they hide it away like that?!
I’m flaberghasted (lol)

So, where can I set reminders? I need three reminders: (1) One week before by email; (2) One day before by email; (3) One minute before by SMS. And I need all three reminders for ALL my contacts' birthdays -
Inappropriate?Today I noticed that my google calender displays birthdays that I haven't entered manually.
So, it works, finally!!!
Thank you!!!!!
I’m happy

Inappropriate? This still needs a lot of work. This new calendar needs to include anniversaries, needs to allow us to setup notifications for the calendar and for individual events, and it would be great if we could also add our own events to this calendar.
What I don't understand is, why is it called "Contacts' Birthdays and events" when all it includes is birthdays?
I’m frustrated
-
I think it's called that way because it's planned to add anniversaries etc, too. At least I hope so!
Anyway, I'm missing the AGE in the title of those events. One needs to open the entry, check the starting date of the series and calculate manually. Why?? -
Inappropriate?google calendar has it, but is integration with the orkut (that i like)
We can integrate the orkut birthday on gmail contacts
I’m excited
