[...] if you decide that you don't need your Gmail address anymore, and you're sure you won't want your username in the future, you can simply remove Gmail from your Google Account.
Once you delete your Gmail address, you can't reactivate it, and you won't be able to retrieve any messages.

Inappropriate?I lost my BLOG site because of cancelling an old gmail address. That is just wrong! Now I cannot retrieve YEARS of blogging. The blog still shows the recent stuff, but when you hit "next page" it comes up as "deleted". I am totally bummed and think people should know this about cancelling/deleting email accounts.
I’m bummed and frustrated!
