Please support authentication in RSS feeds. Twitter doesn't work.
Because Google Reader does not support Twitter's username and password authentication in subscribing to my own RSS feed (which consist of my own tweets plus those of my friends), I use FreeMyFeed as suggested here at Get Satisfaction. Well, FreeMyFeed is apparently down... when I try to visit the page, nothing loads. My Twitter RSS feed in Google Reader has therefore not updated in about 7 hours.
Google, you're a bigger and far more reliable site than FreeMyFeed. Please integrate authentication in feeds so I don't have to suffer this outage again. Make this a priority feature.

Inappropriate?This exact same problem prevents Google Reader from working with GMail too. How can you not support your own products?!

Inappropriate?Love Google Reader, but this problem is just silly. Not being able to get my own twitter feed on Reader, and having to go to a third party site, is goofy.

Inappropriate?Just had another of my feeds stop working, as the author decided to patch a few long-open security holes by disallowing unauthenticated feeds. Watching as the number of feeds I can actually use in Google Reader slowly dwindles away... and wishing I didn't feel so forced into finding slipshod software from another vendor to use as a replacement.
Please, fix this -- and soon!

Thanks for this feedback. Supporting authenticated feeds has been a requested feature for some time. We're currently investigating ways we can accomplish this technically as well as provide a user experience consistent with how Reader works today. Although I wouldn't expect an implementation immediately, please know that we hear you and know that this is a feature that would prove vital for a large number of users. Thanks for helping make Reader better-
