Adding Friends when NOT on FB or Twitter.
Friends: I think it would be great to have the ability to add friends even if your friends don't have twitter or FB. (This is a combination of some of my friends aren't on either and for some reason the two options aren't finding folks that I know that are registered on Gowalla)

Clicking the Facebook button does nothing, clicking the Twitter button asks for my username, I hit save, then it does nothing too. It saves the username, but doesn't give me any sort of options to add friends.

Do you want to add friends with iPhones, who don't already play Gowalla? You can sort of do that from the app store by scrolling to the bottom of the Gowalla app screen and sending an email.
Alternatively, if you want to add friends who already play, then go to their Gowalla profile page on the web. There's a button to 'add friend'.
I think the Twitter part only works if your Twitter friends already have Gowalla - if not then they won't be displayed on the friends page. And the Facebook bit doesn't work at the moment. -
Okay, best as we can tell on this end, you have successfully synced your Facebook and Twitter accounts. We're actually still tweaking the Twitter account part, but the Facebook one works great. Friends will show up on the Facebook tag who have a) installed and signed-up for Gowalla, b) have also connected their Facebook accounts with their Gowalla account.
If you are seeing 0 friends on the Facebook tab, it's likely that your friends still need to complete one of those two things. As it is, though, we are working on changes to the Friends tab, pretty much to completely overhaul it, and to make it easier to find and invite your friends on Facebook, Twitter, and elsewhere. -
Yeah, okay, I guess I was expecting an invite feature. Inviting by email is a non-option, because I have no idea what their email address is. I'd have to go digging through Facebook or Gmail or something to find out that info.
The more normal approach I'd expect would be it to give me a list of my FB friends and allow me to send them an invite, like pretty much every other FB implementation does. Just couldn't figure out where that was located. -

Inappropriate?I'm requesting support for Hyves.nl as well! It's the biggest social network in The Netherlands. Multi million user website. -
Inappropriate?What needs to be added are more search options for friends. Being able to search your gmail, yahoo, windows live, etc contacts for people who are already on Gowalla would not be hard to add. You already have an invite tool for these networks.
