Featured Spot Requests
Okie dokie, cool kids, spacemen/women, world travelers and Target® shoppers, this is now the *official* forum for submitting a request for a featured spot. Let's try to keep it like so: in your answer/comment/whatever, simply put the name of the spot, the city/state/country, and if you feel it needs it, a link to more info or to a picture of the spot.
If you see that someone else has nominated a spot that you'd like to see, give it a thumbs up. It'd be good to not leave a comment in support (or in non-support?) of the requested spot, cos that'd be a fast way to make this thread super-long while also making it very hard for people to find the spots that have been nominated for a custom stamp.
We're going to try to tackle as many as possible, and if it's a spot *you* created (not nominated, but you actually went out and made the original spot in Gowalla), then you will get credited for it plus, we'll prolly send you a little something in the post.
We're all ears. Hit us with your best shots!

Inappropriate?The Big Chicken is a popular landmark/icon outside of Atlanta, GA. Often used when giving directions ("turn left at The Big Chicken"), this KFC building would make a beauuutiful and unique icon. Why not let it be Atlanta's first?

I used to live in Atlanta and heartily second this one as a good featured spot. VERY recognizable local landmark.

100% Truth. This local landmark is used in direction giving on a regular basis, and extremely well known.

Inappropriate?Another landmark of the greater Atlanta area is Stone Mountain. The massive carving in the granite mountainside, or the profile of the mountain itself, would make a fantastic icon.

This is another great landmark in Georgia. Light shows during the summer, great hikes, plenty to do, and a local destination for tourist for sure.

Ground breaking for the facility took place on July 1, 1981 and was constructed in less than two years. It hosts over one million guests annually.
Unlike Seattle, we haven't imploded our dome yet!

Inappropriate?Poinsett Bridge
Greenville, SC, USA
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970
This historic stone bridge was built in 1820 and completed the first road between Asheville, NC and Greenville, SC. The bridge is no longer in use, but it is still standing with minimal deterioration. It has a 14-foot Gothic arch and is the oldest intact bridge in SC. The bridge is named "Poinsett Bridge" after the public servant Joel Roberts Poinsett. Also the same man who introduced the Poinsettia to the United States.
PS: It's also rumored to be haunted
