On the Lloyd, can the 3.5mm jack on the side also be used for an external mic?

Thank you for your question. We would not recommend using any external microphones in conjunction with the Lloyd. We tested the Lloyd with a microphone we have here and while it does record, it does not stop the Lloyd from recording, so the quality of the recordings is greatly deteriorated.
