Can't uninstall Infovark
I can't uninstall Infovark. I opened Control Panel. At the entry for Infovark, I clicked 'Uninstall.' A dialog box titled 'Browse For Folder' appeared. It says, "Please locate your original setup sources to continue operation". I assumed that the 'original setup sources' meant the installer file (Inforvark Installer.exe), which is on my Desktop. I browsed to my Desktop, but that didn't work. Then I browsed to C:\Program Files\Infovark, but that didn't work.

Inappropriate?Hey Scott, the error message you see is thrown by one of the components we've bundled in our installation package. I thought we had that problem fixed in the public beta. Could you tell me what version of Windows you are using?
Performing a manual uninstall is a bit complicated. You can call 1-800-833-9796, and I can walk you through the procedure. Or you can try it on your own by following these steps:
* Stop the Infovark Manager if it is running.
* Run the CleanOutlook.exe file in C:\Program Files\Infovark. This removes the extra properties added to items within Outlook being tracked by Infovark.
* Run the CleanFiles.exe file in C:\Program Files\Infovark. This removes the extra properties added to files being tracked by Infovark.
* Run the Infovark Installer and select the "Uninstall" option.
* Delete the Infovark Library stored in your LocalAppData folder. In Windows XP, this is usually found at C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Local Settings\Application Data\Infovark.
* Uninstall Firebird by running the uninstXXX.exe file in the C:\Program Files\Firebird folder. -
Inappropriate?That worked! Thanks, Dean.

Inappropriate? When I start Outlook, a message says that it can't find:
C:\Program Files\Infovark\Redemption.dll
...and that I might be able to fix this issue by choose Help > Detect and Repair, but that didn't remove the message.
Note that I'm using Outlook 2003. During installation I might have gotten in a hurry and accidentally chosen to have Infovark work with Outlook (I don't remember -- is that an option during installation?), which I probably shouldn't have since it's designed to work with 2007.
I’m indifferent

Quoting myself:
During installation I might have gotten in a hurry and accidentally chosen to have Infovark work with Outlook (I don't remember -- is that an option during installation?)...
I just remembered that Dean commented on this here. I'm using Outlook 2003, so I should have chosen the Custom install option so that Infovark wouldn't be integrated with Outlook. -
Inappropriate? If you installed our Outlook Add-in, you might need to remove it manually.
Follow the instructions here for removing a COM Add-in from Outlook 2003:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/out...
The name of our add-in is "OutVark."
You might need to restart Outlook afterward. And if it still gives you the warning message, let me know and I'll walk you through the procedure for clearing the Outlook cache. (Sometimes Outlook just won't let go of these things!) -
Inappropriate?OutVark doesn't appear in the list of COM Add-Ins. Is OutVark associated with the Redemption.dll file? That file is no longer on the system.
-
Inappropriate? Is the Outlook cache associated with the *.nk2 file?
-
Inappropriate? The Redemption.dll is used by several Infovark components, all having to do with Outlook. Something is hanging on to a reference to the file, even though it's been deleted.
There are several different Outlook cache files. The *.nk2 file is for autocomplete. The file we want to delete is called extend.dat. This tutorial describes how to clear the Add-in cache.
http://email.about.com/od/outlooktips...
And if that doesn't do the trick, we'll try something else. I apologize for all the trouble this is causing. -
Inappropriate? Thanks, Dean. I don't have a file named extend.dat on my system (XP running Outlook 2003), but I have one named outcmd.dat. I deleted that file. That didn't fix the error message, but Outlook performs much better! But here's what seems to have fixed it:
In Outlook, choose Tools > Options.
Click the Other tab.
Click Advanced Options...
Click Add-In Manager...
Uncheck Redemption Helper Outlook Extension.
Click OK.
Restart Outlook.
I’m happy
-
Inappropriate?Of course!
Outvark uses the redemption helper to get data out of outlook, but it must register itself as a COM add-in - when the uninstall removed the redemption DLL, outlook ended up all cross because it has a pointer to a file that doesn't exist...
Great detective work Scott - Our apologies for having to put you through the wringer on that one - But on the upside, now we know! - I'll modify the uninstallaiton routine to uninstall the redemption add-in before removing the files.
If you've got some time available to catch up with us and discuss your experiences further, we'd love to talk to you!
