Is Intensedebate down?
Can't comment, edit or even view comments on my wordpress site. I get a 502 Bad Gateway error when trying to access the comment moderation page or when trying to access intensedebate.com

Inappropriate? Are you still encountering this? It's likely that the page is trying to load a massive number of comments and it's timing out. What's your URL?
Thanks,
Michael -
Inappropriate?I just started to have the problem today, and I've noticed it on several blogs that use Intense Debate.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I was able to post a comment on the 'test' section of the intensedebate site, but was unable to post a comment to a blog. I've tried safari and firefox, and both timeout.
-
Inappropriate?I can't post on my site either, nor can some commenters of mine who first brought it to my attention. The progress arrows just start spinning and never post the comment. Yesterday they were having trouble posting at all because they kept getting back a comment that said the admin had deleted it....which I hadn't.

Inappropriate?Okay this may be related to the number of characters in the comment posting? I've tried posting comments with "test" in the field and they post fine. However comments that are longer are not posting either as new or as replies. Similar to described as above. Arrows just spin and no result. Both Firefox and IE.
Now I know why my comment numbers have been low. -
Inappropriate?Same with me. If i tried to reply with a few letters, it posted fine. but any longer comments just sit there and don't post. I also just get the spinning arrows
I’m anxious
-
Inappropriate? So I found that I can post a longer comment from the dashboard. But from the site no one can post comments unless they are short.
-
Inappropriate?I tried posting from the dashboard, but the comment usually has a ll sorts of weird characters and slashes in it
-
Inappropriate?Well not able to even post the short message as a guest.
Frustrating. I really dont want to deactivate ID. -
ID is starting to get a reputation as a buggy system. At least, that is what I'm seeing on Twitter over the last week. I'm with you in not really wanting to drop the service, but it is starting to look like we may not have much choice unless their support improves. -
Inappropriate?I can post "test" and then go to the admina panel and edit the comment to add a longer reply but I should not have to do this.
Any news on this problem? -
Inappropriate?I have noticed this problem quite regularly during the last couple of months. There appears to be a sort of step-by-step sequence to it:
-reply button doesn't work in any browser and when it does the arrows keep spinning
- later on, commenting in general doesn't work, first off the submit button doesn't work and when it does work the arrows keep spinning
- later on, I can post the word "test" and that's about it
- even later on, logging in doesn't work because the arrows keep turning
- after a while, the whole thing seems to work fine, but after a few instances the whole sequence repeats itself. -
Olaf, we pushed a fix for the posting issue. Are you still encountering it? -
Inappropriate? Can't imagine this has anything to do with the number of characters in the comment. I have been known to write quite long comments on some blogs, and in general this works fine for me, particularly with Mozilla/Opera. (but not IE7 curiously enough)
-
Inappropriate?Seems like I'm able to post again. Don't know why. Thanks for the great feedback system!
I’m unsure but happily satisfied.

Inappropriate? To Michael Koenig, I've had a question up for weeks that hasn't garnered anyone's attention that can be found at this address http://tinyurl.com/la4d86
any help or explanation on this subject would be greatly appreciated thank you

Inappropriate?Michael and ID team,
I'm noticing some weirdness happening right now with my site as well (http://ryanmarkel.com). I receive a 502 error page from nginx whenever I attempt to access my Comments admin panel, and there are also issues with comment counts and actual comments on posts not matching properly.
I've gone ahead and deactivated the plugin for now to aid my users; if you would like some assistance in tracing this, please let me know and we'll get together on it.
NINJA EDIT: There were definitely some weird issues going on with comment synchronization as well. Deactivating and reactivating the plugin has cleared up the 502 errors for the time being, but there were comments "trapped" in the system. Some showed up before deactivation, others showed up after deactivation, and all of them (I think) have shown up post-reactivation.
I'm going to leave it up for now, but feel free to ping me if you need some feedback.
I’m confuzzled
-
Looks like every time I went into the Comments panel, the loading time increased until I was given 502's again.
I've deactivated the plugin for now. -
Inappropriate?I too just deactivated my ID. I love it, but can't have these problems if people come to comment on my page. Doesn't make it a good experience for them. Hopefully it will get smoother.
-
Inappropriate?Hi guys,
It's possible there was some kind of transient connectivity issue, or that there was bad DNS information cached somewhere along the chain for some reason.
We're not seeing any issues currently - are you able to try the plugin and make sure that you're not seeing any problems?
Thanks,
Beau

this answers the question
-
Beau,
I activated it just now (sorry it took me a while) and once again received a 502 from nginx.
You know where to find me. :) -
Ryan -- very strange -- do you have lots of comments by any chance? Can you access the comment history/moderation pages on intensedebate.com?
Let's get this sorted out ;) -
Inappropriate?Beau –
My blog has only 166 comments, with 7 of those in the spam hopper. My comment history and moderation pages on the ID web site load very quickly and are very responsive.
When I activate the plugin in my admin area, everything reloads fine until clicking on the Comments button in the navigation area. It takes a little longer than usual to load the comments page "frame", and then the comments view actually never loads at all.
I just decided to do the smart thing and test with another browser. There are different problems on each. Firefox 3.5 won't load the page at all and gives me the 502. WebKit just doesn't keep my login cookie properly. I can log in when I click on "comments", but navigating away and then returning to the comments view asks me for my login again.
