long html links break when posting
There seems to be some kind of bug that breaks some links while parsing them to html.
I've been trying to post this link to a comment: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ugq86q...
Wether I do it as wrapped around a text or leaving it raw, the end result is something like this
The only solution was to make it a tinyurl and then post it

Inappropriate?Check out the first commenter link in this post:
http://wireframes.linowski.ca/?p=64#r...
The user posted twice even and it broke twice.
This is serious. And this is the second time for me as well. I also had the same problem when I edited my own post. The first time the link seemed fine, and the after the edit the link broke.

Inappropriate?Yes it does not seem to matter what we do - post a raw URL or a TinyURL our use a code insert it gets this great garble of code.
i jusrt tried posting a raw URL and it worked this time. I'll post back here next time it does it again.
Its bloody annoying and you'd wonder how a large IT company like intensedebate owned by wordpress could be having this happen?

Inappropriate?Having similar problems with urls on my site breaking when posting.
Yepper, its the longer html links that seem to do this. -
Inappropriate? Please fix this problem. It looks super bad. Here is another entry I did two days ago, and more broken links appear posted by my readers:
http://wireframes.linowski.ca/?p=220
(Is there a way to edit the posts of others and try to fix the broken links?) -
Inappropriate?Hey Guys,
Any Idea what you have to do to get a response out of the Intensedebate people. The support seems to be non existant. I've posted two problems now and also used the help section but still no response.
If I don't have some resolution to these issues in the next 24 hours I'm removing it from my site.
This is becoming a very unsatisfactory experience.

Truth is that the IDC guys DO seem to have been more unavailable than normal lately. I think they've bitten a bit more than they can chew in terms of popularity :) -
Inappropriate?G'day dBO,
What are we dealing with here, are they just a small start up with no staff. Although I'm amused by the message at the top.
5 IntenseDebate employees are ready to listen and respond.
I suppose it does not actually say when - they will respond.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Maybe they are a bit overrun with bug fix requests. Other than that these guys have a really nice product, and it's easy to poke at bugs which stand out. I just hope they'll fix this, as it really looks ugly (and discouraging) when comment links break ... I know they will!!!! :)
I’m confident

Inappropriate? Thanks for reporting this. We're taking a look and will have some news soon.
Thanks for your patience,
Michael

Inappropriate?Another broken link today and I can't do anything about it:(
Looks so unprofessional.

Really really really annoying.
Any status on fixing this?

Inappropriate? From these examples the issue seems to be more around improperly formatted links and, on occasion, mistakes in link parsing, but not from any url length limitation.
I'll take a look at the parsing functions, but many of these are just typo's or improper url's. -
Inappropriate?Jon, this is definitely not a user error. I've tested it quite a bit.
-
can you give me some specific url's that consistently break for you? Would help a lot to identify this issue.
Thanks. -
The youtube link I posted in the main post routinely broke for me. -
Inappropriate?Jon, if you look at the links I submitted earlier:
http://wireframes.linowski.ca/?p=220
http://wireframes.linowski.ca/?p=64#r...
http://wireframes.linowski.ca/?p=319#...
... it looks like on MANY occasions the formatting by different users has gone incorrect. Even if a user mistyped an url (by perhaps not leaving a space between the " and the target= attribute) I believe it should be corrected automatically on your end. But I doubt that it is the users fault as it occured a number of times by different users. More so this looks REALLY bad.
Please help fixing this.
Jakub

It looks like there is an issue parsing links w/ target attributes. I'll take a look and try to get that fixed. -
Perhaps it's the ?v= as well? As it breaks youtube too. Yes, looking at the top comments, it seems there is a trend with the ?p= etc -
Inappropriate?I'm getting a resurgence of this issue but in a somewhat different way. The links are again mangled and appear in the form of http://dbzer0.com/blog/%5C/%5C/getsat...
See example here. I've had this happen 4 times now -
Inappropriate?Problem persists. The only way to make a link now is to edit the comment after posting to fix the broken url in the html code

Inappropriate?Problem seems to be fixed by the bugfix pushed from here. I guess you can mark the problem as solved
-
Inappropriate?Glad to hear it worked.
-
Inappropriate?Update: Unfortunately it seems it didn't. I've seen the problem again both on my blog and the IDC blog as well.
Can we please fix this?
-
Inappropriate? This should be fixed now (again).
Sorry for the trouble.

Yes, this looks fixed now, even old comments have been repaired. Thanks!
