Redirecting back to login
Hi,
I installed intensedebate plugin on my wordpress and i'm going into the intensedebate wizard after activating.
I login, and click to import my comments.
Then i'm redirected back to the login :S
Again and again... what's the problem?
Thanks in advance

Inappropriate? This happened to me. Turned out my server firewall was preventing the connection to intensedebate.com. You need to get your server admin to permit this connection.
-
Thanks for letting us know about that. That hasn't come up before. -
Inappropriate?davidft -- i called my server and had them put intensedebate.com on the whitelist and i'm still having the same issue.
-
Inappropriate?hold up...seems to be working now...just took like 15 min

I apologize for the delay. We have a plugin that will wipe your settings so that you can start over - that generally takes care of it.
To access the plugin please visit http://intensedebate.com/misc/clearID... .
Please use these instructions:
1. Uninstall and remove the IntenseDebate plugin
2. Install, activate, and run the clearID.php plugin
3. Uninstall it.
4. Install the latest version (v2.1.1) of the plugin and activate it.
You can download the latest version in your WP plugins page or at http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/i... . Please let me know how it goes.
Thanks for your patience,
Michael
I’m confident

@Michael - I've followed your directions and am still getting redirected by to login screen. A few questions:
1) When you say "run the clearID.php" is this accomplished by simply activating the plugin, or is there something else I need to do?
2) I'm running the latest version 2.1.1 of the IntenseDebate plugin and the clearID.php plugin on my development box. The URL is http://localhost/myblog - does this matter? If so, how do you run the plugin in a testing/integration type of environment?
Thanks!

This does not solve it - I still get bounced back from import to login using my user key and username. No error message no nothing. :-( -
Inappropriate?I have the same issue on my website using wp 2.7.1 and the clearid plugin did not help.
I’m not happy with this
-
Inappropriate?call your host and have them whitelist intensedebate.com from their firewall. that will solve the issue. worked for me.

Inappropriate?hi,
I have same problem. my website is working on a free hosting service (byethost) I asked this problem, and admin said that:
is the script trying to connect back to a url that is https (ssl) ? OR is the script trying to use fopen wrappers (eg treat a url as if it were a local file ?
if either of these are true this is not possible on the free hosting
What can i do? intensedebate's wordpress plugin uses fopen or https?
My site wordpress 2.7.1
I’m confused

Inappropriate?@burak
ditto same problem with me..
byethost admin said the same thing.. i dunno shit :)
plz help -
Inappropriate? This is the reply from my free hosting provider: Host-ed.net about this plugin. It seems this is the standard response for all free hosts:
"Hello Stephen,
This type of plugin is making a connection from our hosting to their server.
This requires outgoing connections to be allowed, which is forbidden on our free hosting due to security reasons.
Paid web hosting account can have outgoing connections allowed after an explicit request to the support team.
If you upgrade your account now, I can allow the outgoing connections for your account.
Nestor"
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Guys, unfortunately, that's how the synchronization between ID and your WP installation works (connecting to each other to transfer comments back and forth).
One of our users wrote up some quick instructions on how to use the Generic install of ID on a WP blog, which should work, but won't import your previous comments, or sync back new comments to your WP install.
