Google gadget broken
My Sandy icon has been working beautifully in Google Calendar. We use the edu version, so originally copied and pasted the URL in there, and Sandy showed up. Now she's gone, and I'm sad. Tried deleting and re-adding the gadget. She shows up in the calendar listing in the left column, but won't appear in her usual calendar spot.

Inappropriate?Hi Mark,
I just checked this out in my Google Calendar and find that, yes, you're right, while the gadget is being added to my calendar, Sandy doesn't turn up on any of the days. And a cursory look finds no particular reason why...
But I'll dig into this today and report back.

Inappropriate?Howdy again,
So something is seriously odd on Google Calendar's side of the pond: I actually removed my Google Calendar Gadget and manually created a test copy of the gadget to subscribe to at http://iwantsandy.com/static/gcal_gad... (please do give this one a whirl yourself). I subscribed to it just fine, it displayed just fine (Sandy's face reappeared), and ... after about 2 seconds threw an "Couldn't fetch URL" error.
I'll try to get hold of the Google Calendar folk and see what light they can shed on Sandy's sudden disappearance.

UPDATE: And now, suddenly, on the third re-subscription, the Calendar Gadget at http://iwantsandy.com/static/gcal_gad... works perfectly while the original http://iwantsandy.com/static/gcal_gad... remains error- and content-free. Gah! -
Inappropriate?Rael,
It appears that /static/gcal_gadget2.ics works perfectly for me as well... thanks for your responsiveness with this. I'll be curious to see what your response is from the folks at Google. -
Inappropriate?Hi Mark,
As do I! If you want to play along at home, you'll find my posting at:
http://groups.google.com/group/google...
Unfortunately their groups don't tend to be that well tended to and so it might be that things just start working before we necessarily know why. I'll also go ahead and cross-post to the Google Calendar Get Satisfaction community group...
...back!
Here's that cross-posting for your reference:

Inappropriate?the static/gcal_gadget2.ics file is the only one that works for me. I tried re-using the original (more than the magic three times!) and no luck. This worked, though.

Inappropriate?Just to be clear, there are at least two different calendar feeds. There is the "private calendar feed" and the "Google Calendar Gadget". As far as I can tell these do slightly different things. The Google Calendar gadget is to integrate Sandy's Daily Digest feature into Google Calendar. It adds a Sandy icon next to each day in the calendar. When you click on the icon, up pops the Daily Digest for that day. The gadget is also currently in testing and has not been released.
The "private calendar feed" integrates items from Sandy's calendar feed directly into another calendar. (Google Calendar, 30Boxes, Windows Vista, iCal in OS X, etc) Items from this feed show up directly in the calendar, usually in a distinct color that identifies items from that source. See http://iwantsandy.com/help/feeds#cale...
I think this is correct. I realized that I was confused about this and I had to do some double checking, so I figured that other people might be confused too.
