Lookup context
Is it possible to get the full context of an item via lookup? For instance, say I sent sandy an email with a big block of text that I want her to remember. Then, I ask sandy to lookup something that returns that message. However, all that is really visible is the title of the item and perhaps any day/time associated with it. How can I get sandy to send me the big block of text via lookup or some other email interface? My ideal solution would be for lookup to continue to function as it does, but, if you reply to a "regular" lookup with something like "lookup #2", you get the full context of item #2 from that particular lookup query.

Inappropriate?Hi,
You can indeed reply to a lookup with another lookup for more detail like so:
look up #1
—R
The company says
this answers the question

Inappropriate? This isn't working for me. When I reply "look up #1", I just get the summary info again, not any more details.

Inappropriate?Hi Forge42!
When you do a look up #1, scroll down to the bottom of the reply from Sandy and you should see the full context of the original message quoted in its entirety.
—R -
Inappropriate?Ok, here's what I've done. First, I create a test message by sending the following to sandy in the body of an email (no subject):
<sent>
remember Wisdom From Rael @sandy

Then, I do a lookup with the following command

Buenos dias, Forge!
Here's what I found matching "rael":
#1 Wisdom From Rael
- tagged with @sandy
- context: remember Wisdom From Rael @sandy

Ready to help,

To this response, I reply with:

In response to this, Sandy sends (this is the full text, copy-pasted from my gmail):
<response>
Hey, Forge!
Here's what I found:
#1 Wisdom From Rael
- tagged with @sandy
- context: remember Wisdom From Rael @sandy

Grok on,
Sandy

The link given in the response is a live link that takes me to the item on sandy's website. I would like to be able to see the full text (ie - the Q and A text) w/in my email for improved mobile interface. From what you're saying, you think this is doable. However, from the experiment above, it doesn't seem to be working.</sent> -
Inappropriate?Bump?

Inappropriate? This functionality still isn't working for me and it is really crippling Sandy's usefulness. FWIW, I'm using the gmail web interface.
I’m sad

Inappropriate?I'm having the same problem. I like to keep larger chunks of text in the body of emails, and can't seem to get those chunks with a lookup.
When I use gmail and keep the subject the same ("lookup xxxx") but add "lookup #1" on the first line, I get the original list of results back.
When I change the subject line to "lookup #1" I don't get a response back at all.
I’m annoyed

So you mean I'm NOT insane!! Great! The only downside is that means that this really is a very significant problem with Sandy. Can we please have a little help over here?!? -
Inappropriate?Hi,
I am sorry that this thread managed to move on without me. I will look at the issue again today.

I’m apologetic

Thanks Rael. I hope you can get it resolved. -
Inappropriate?Thanks Rael, I appreciate it.
Also, I'd like to point out that Sandy is a fantastic tool, and I've come to rely on it- this particular point isn't a deal breaker for me; it just sounds like a bug.
Thanks again for looking into it, and for being here for support. -
Inappropriate?I thought I'd try to help out, so I tried what Forge said myself and I got the same result. The first lookup ("lookup Rael") performed correctly, and gave me a two item list ("Wisdom From Rael" and "the Town Hall meeting, raelity.campfirenow.com").. The second lookup, (i.e. the command "lookup #1") provided a one item list. And that item contained the same #1 as in the previous list. It was a link "Wisdom From Rael" and associated links to the item at Sandy's website. (Archive, Forget, etc.) By the way, I have HTML email turned on.
The second response (the one item list) didn't include the context of the item (the email), that I was trying to look up. The text at the end of Sandy's message did not contain the context of the requested event (the email), instead it contained the text of my previous email to Sandy. It started like this...

I will point out that I didn't have Sandy remember the entire email, just like Forge, I had "remember Wisdom From Rael @sandy" in the first line of the email.
I'm thinking aloud here, but would it be better, or easier, to be more specific about what we want in the lookups? Maybe we could use specific tags to give a better description of what we want? For example: "lookup Wisdom From Rael @details"
or "lookup #1 @details" (after using a previous lookup.)
Where "@details" is a special tag that says that I want all the details? (the context of the email, etc.)
Just a thought.
I’m confident

Inappropriate?Any luck with this Rael?
-
Inappropriate?Still seems to be broken. I just tried responding to a keyword lookup with "lookup #1" (in the body of the email) and I just received the same exact email that i'd just responded to.
Rael, are you able to reproduce this issue? Are we using the "lookup #1" command incorrectly?
One thing I sometimes find confusing is when to put the command in the subject line and when in the body of the email. Can you perhaps talk us through how the commands should work to get the full context of an email that we've asked sandy to remember? -
Inappropriate?I am also unable to retrieve the email context related to an item using the lookup #1 method described above. Is there a different keyword that we should use to get this information via email? Perhaps something like 'context #1' ?
If there are any tests that I can run to help track the issue down, please let me know. I am enjoying this service a lot and it would be nice to use this feature to manage reference information and more detailed todo items.
I’m hopeful

Inappropriate?Almost replicated this question, but found this thread. Still not working for me, either.
I've tried a few different routes that seemed reasonable, like "l #1 context" and "#1 context" and "#1 more context" and "context" but no luck.
Like others have said, not a deal breaker, but sure would be nice. -
Inappropriate?I've given up on this (and Sandy as a whole), Bren.
For whatever reason, the Sandy team seems more concerned with adding superficial features than making the ones they already have work properly. I'm pretty sure that soon, I'll be able to contact Sandy via smokesignal.... but basic lookup commands still won't work.
