Internal microphone on Samsung NC10 under Jolicloud
I'm very impressed with Jolicloud's latest release. Before I install, though, I'd like to know if there's a fix to get the internal microphone on a Samsung NC10 working. From the USB I see that most of the fn keys work, and Wifi worked out of the box. If I can get the microphone to work I will be very happy to do a full install. Or will this problem be resolved with a full install? Thanks!

We are currently working on a fix for the internal microphone of the Samsung NC10. It will be available through your Jolicloud updates, so there will be no need to do a complete reinstall.

Inappropriate?There is a temporary workaround which will help. Open a terminal and run these commands:
sudo amixer -c 0 sset "Input Source" "Front Mic"
sudo amixer -c 0 sset "Capture" "80%" "cap" "unmute"
sudo amixer -c 0 sset "Front Mic Boost" "30%" "unmute"
sudo amixer -c 0 sset "Front Mic" "100%" "mute"
sudo amixer -c 0 sset "Mic Boost" "30%" "unmute"
sudo amixer -c 0 sset "Mic" "100%" "mute"
sudo amixer -c 0 sset "PCM" "100%"
It's a lot, but it will adjust your sound mixer levels to support microphone recording.
(Note, a kernel upgrade to 2.6.30 may be required, we're working on packaging that up ASAP!)1 Comment Add a comment

Thanks, Adam. This workaround isn't ideal, of course - the recording is very iffy - but it's good to know we can get the mic to work at all. I'll look forward to the update that will, we hope, solve this glitch.
I'm just beginning to explore Jolicloud, and so far I'm impressed with the design and ease of use. I'm sure I'll have questions as I delve deeper. It's great to have a helpful community at hand. -
Inappropriate?Obviously the Joliclouders were very quick to fix this problem, because I just successfully made a skype-out call using the internal mic with no problems. Awesome job, Jolicloud!

Inappropriate?Hey there, i have just done an update this morning - 22 updates i think it was. I just tested tweetdeck and while the webcam works perfectly i have no audio recording (it says linux microphone on the flash dropdown) - i'm on an acer aspire one. If i could get audio recording working i would be very pleased - jolicloud is ideal on my netbook.
I’m hoping for a solution.
