My downloaded translations are dissappearing
I keep losing my downloaded translations. Shouldn't these remain on my iPod for non wifi areas? I can download and use a couple of times, then it's gone.

Inappropriate?I'm having the same problem. Seems every sync to iTunes the downloads are erased and have to be downloaded again. Quite annoying!! Luckily I had access to wifi at the hospital, albeit a weak signal, while waiting for Mum to get out of surgery.
An update fix for this would be appreciated.
BTW, thanks for the Bookmark feature!! No longer have to switch from Bible to Mantis.
I’m annoyed!

Inappropriate?I am also having this problem
-
Inappropriate?Same issue - doesn't seem to happen every synch with iTunes, but at least every few days all offline translations disappear....
I’m sad
-
Inappropriate?Same problem. I was shocked and saddened whilst sitting in church, and suddenly realised I had no downloaded translations with which to follow along! :(:(:(

Inappropriate? We have the same problem. Seems like every update deletes the downloaded translations. This is not something that an update should do. Other apps keep their settings and such, so something about the way the update happens is deleting these files. YouVersion staff, if you read this, please make it a priority to fix this problem, because it shouldn't be necessary to download an additional 15 MB (or more, for multiple translations) every time the software needs updating.
Or, at the very least, the software should give a notification that this action has occurred. It's very disorienting to open up the app and expect to see the translations when they've been deleted silently.
I’m frustrated

Actually, for some reason, if you had to 'hard' reboot your iPhone (have nothing to do with bible, but say..the game on iPhone got froze on. Then it also removed the downloaded contents for the bible. Must be glitch or some weird bugs. I am not sure if that is Apple's way or not. Also I hope they will not remove the downloaded contents every time we get update from the youVersion. Keep up the good work! -
Inappropriate?Yep - I'm experiencing this too on a first gen iPod Touch. I think Bible is a great app (one of my favourites) and the offline option is a brilliant addition but it is a bit annoying when you fire up the app outside of a wifi area only to find that you don't have the offline versions you thought you had. Please can this be fixed.
I’m a bit frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Same problem for me too. It seems like a simple fix. I would be happy to pay $1 for the app and be able to keep my downloaded translations.
I’m wanting a revolution
-
Inappropriate? This is an amazing application and its free! That said, I too am losing Downloaded Versions. In my incidents, the downloads vanish regardles of when I do downloads or surf the net. Is there any official comments from YouVersion?
-
Inappropriate?I too have the same problem. Mine seems to like to wait though until I have no wifi and have lots of waiting to do, then smugly stares at me as I wish I had a Bible to read.
Haha. Great product by the way, its not really a big deal but then again it is the only problem I've run into with this app. -
Inappropriate?I'm also having this issue, as is my wife. It's not every sync or update, it seems random but the real problem is that it goes virtually unnoticed till you're out of a wifi/cell area and try to use the program.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I'm having the same problem too. Have we heard from anyone at YouVersion as to why this happens or how it can be resolved?
I’m upset
-
Inappropriate? How disappointing! I don't see why it is a) so difficult to fix and b) why it is not prioritised to be fixed. This is a problem that is affecting a lot of users and it would be nice not to have to re-download the offline version every few weeks when the program decides it doesn't want to store the offline versions anymore.
I’m disappointed
-
Inappropriate?Well, there are some other Bible apps out there. It may be time to consider those. I know Laridian will be releasing their app at some point in the future. Laridian has always produced good software with reliable support. I guess you get what you pay for.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?I have same issue can't seem to locate the reason some versions go away then others later on they all don't dusappear at once very strange and uncool
I’m Unhappy guess I'll try a pay bible app
-
Inappropriate?ok, this is fixed and will be pushed out in our next update coming in the next couple weeks. thanks for your patience.
I’m happy

Inappropriate? My issue is a bit different. When offline, if I try to page forward but inadvertently hit the blue arrow the downloaded file disappears. That arrow should not be so close to the "next" key
-
Inappropriate?Since updating to iPhone OS 3, the Colloquial Japanese does not load properly. Opening Psalms shows a blank page. Opening Proverbs crashes the app.
I’m Not happy
-
Inappropriate?I should have written, the Colloquial Japanese that crashes the phone is downloaded translation. Also, I have deleted the app and re-downloaded and have the same problem.
-
Inappropriate?@ chad78 - not sure if you're using out of date Bible but the latest version worked really well and haven't had any problems since that update (even on iPhone 3.1 too).
Keep up the good work developers! Thanks so much!
p.s. One more thing - is there a way to "customize" the black menu on the bottom, so I can add Bible books instead of "Daily Read"? I never used it :) Thanks!
I’m thankful
-
Inappropriate?I just updated the app - that's when all my translations disappear. Happens every time.
-
The new version has fixed where we are storing the offline translations. Moving forward, you will not loose your offline translations, they will stay with you. -
Inappropriate?I know it will disappear if you restore the iPhone/iPod Touch (w/o backing up) or if you got a new iPhone/iPod Touch after replacement/upgrade. I'm sorry to hear that and good luck with that :(
-
Inappropriate?I downloaded the upgrade offered on the App Store through my iPod Touch, and now the app is not working at all. I try to access any of the features on the app (books, offline translations, online translations) with full wifi access and the app crashes. Please help!
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Same is happening to me - I've restored my iPhone, deleted the app, redownloaded it from the App Store and it still starts without any books loaded and no way to get them.
When I try to look up a passage, the app crashes.
I’m frustrated and perplexed
-
Inappropriate?Seems to be happening to me also fantastic app though thanks just reporting bug I know it will help
-
Inappropriate?Wow.
Glad I waited. I hope they get this fixed. -
Inappropriate?Updated the app, offline translations disappear. But supposedly this was fixed? My other (pay) Bible is more reliable. Unfortunately... because I like many features in YouVersion.
I’m surprised and frustrated.
-
Inappropriate? Its a shame this problem persists despite tonnes of pleas from users.
I’m Disappointed
-
Inappropriate? The software worked flawless. My offline translation didn't disappeared from the latest update. However, that would depend on what software update you are using - if you're using iPhone 2.0 instead of 3.0 - that might be the issue but don't know. Kudos to those developers who worked so hard on this. Thanks!!
-
I use 3.1 but to be honest, this problem has been on before I updated my iPhone software. I think most people will agree that the app is fantastic, I also think thats why people are pained that it does not work well. -
Inappropriate?Developers,
Got another problem :\ Especially the off-line translation. I've included two snapshots (http://twitpic.com/osyet and http://twitpic.com/osyfp)
When there is no "E" or "3G" as well as wifi, then the bible will ask for the download translation (which I have already downloaded) but when I select that downloaded translation, it doesn't do anything. Please fix this. This is a serious bug and it's on the latest software version. Thanks.
-
Inappropriate?I've found that sometimes, even without updating, I'll love my versions. there's often not internet access in some of my classes at college, so I can't readily open up my Youversion to find something. Also, it resets the incons at the bottom. I love the interface, but it keeps resetting!
I’m meh!
