Its been about 7-months. Any update on adding support for OpenID. -
Inappropriate?I'm considering platforms for my alumni network and want to offer OpenID authentication. Is this coming soon to LinkedIn?
-
Inappropriate? The other way around, perhaps easier for LinkedIn to implement: providing OpenID from LinkedIn profiles. I work with many 'online communities (/blogs/forums and what not) for professionals/ (government) projects. Having to ask (potential) users to register to yet another website is a horde we don't need.
Almost all professionals now have a LinkedIn site, I would love for users to login with their LinkedIn ID using OpenID. The bonus for the community manager is that a LinkedIn resume instantly shows from/for what profession/employer that user is acting.
OpenID is easy to implement, much easier than OAuth/a LinkedIn-specific API.
Oh, and see the 439 votes for OpenID login support at Demand OpenID!
I’m curious

Inappropriate? Is this still being considered? I tend to highlight the "you don't have to register, you can use one of your existing accounts" (a.k.a. openid support) feature to convince my contacts to join some websites, so it'd be great if LinkedIn implemented this.
