Inappropriate?I tried:
http://photosynth.net/view.aspx?cid=6...
and it works!
Still, it would be nice if this could be done with PhotoSynth itself (without using 3rd party tools)

this is one of the best points

Great work! It looks really crazy with just the point map turned on (P). It also shows the vast improvement in resolution of a consumer grade digital camera compared to a DVD. I agree, Photosynth could be easily made to do this automatically with movies. Imagine recreating a scene from old home movies! -
Inappropriate?nice :¬) a bit fuzzy?
-
Inappropriate? Most video from DV and HDV video cameras are interlaced, which would be hard to work with
-
Inappropriate? The fuzziness is because of the DivX compressed file that I used as a source. (It was easier to grab the frames from an .avi then from the original DVD)
-
Inappropriate? If you start that kinda of crap, I'm sure Hollywood and the MPAA will be lining up their legal teams. Please don't turn Photosynth to a copyright infringers paradise like YourTube.
-
Inappropriate?PhotoSyth is not a practical environment to watch a movie GoodTV
-
Inappropriate?I had the same idea of synthing scenes from movies, but I would need to use a program such as Adobe Premiere to grab frames. If Photosynth could grab every X number of frames to synth a scene from a movie, that would be an awesome feature!
I’m giddy just thinking about synthing my home movies!

Inappropriate?perhaps make sure it only supported the lease lossy formats. Occasionally less is more.
