Calibrating synths
It would be great to have some idea of plans (there must be plans...) of how to calibrate synths with the real world.
Unless I'm much mistaken, PhotoSynth, after successfully creating a synth, still has no idea of the scale or orientation of the scene – let alone any knowledge of latitude and longitude. Even the concept of "up" is only determined, I think, by assuming all photos are approximately the right way up and averaging their up vectors.
It would be great to know what data to record in the field – measuring latlongs of certain points on the scene? – so that we can sync our existing synths later!
Or is the idea to bring all synths into one big synth via their tags?

Inappropriate? This makes me think of RSS feature in synth so that I can use the synth in my Popfly
I’m happy
