Inappropriate?I like your optimism. (And as a fellow Microsoft fan who loves to share the goodness of Microsoft with family and friends, I totally agree with you.)
I think I should point out to you, though, that one of Silverlight's current promises is to keep the Silverlight installation package smaller than 5 megabytes. Because of this, they've had to not include any of the 3D capabilities of WPF.
Since Photosynth is, by definition, a 3D application I don't think we'll see the two married for a little longer yet. Don't get me wrong... I'm sure that 3D will eventually come to Silverlight, but it might be a few more years down the road. Perhaps by then, a download size larger than 5 MB will be considered okay.
The current installation package for Photosynth is already 8 MB. Technically this includes two separate pieces: the synther and the viewer. I think that if any of it is ever built into Silverlight, it will be the viewer, so I don't think we'll need to add the entire 8 MB Photosynth install package to the current Silverlight install package, but it would likely add enough to push it past its 5 MB limit.
Before anyone gets any ideas, I do not work for Microsoft, nor do I know what their internal plans are. These are just my own observations from what I've heard and read around various Microsoft blogs. Please do not dogmatically quote what I've said here to other people. I believe I am accurate, but I am not a Microsoft rep or even a third party developer to have looked 'under the hood' to really understand what is going on.
Cheers!
I’m patient

Inappropriate? The combining of Siliverlight and the ability to insert a controlable PhotoSynth into a Silverlight environment would be phenomenal. This really should happen and I hope someone at MS pushes this. This
would truly blow the competition away.
I’m excited
