I can’t get past the create profile stage, so I can’t get to photosynth. I’m caught in an infinite loop.
First I go the www.photosynth.net site
I get the dialog box: “New to photosynth? You’ll need to create a profile...”
(I have already created a profile, but cannot get past this anyway)
I click the dialog box saying “Create a profile”
Windows Live ID website opens in I.E, giving me two options
Log out from this account and log in with another e-mail address
Stay logged in using this ID
I choose Stay logged in using this ID
The following dialog is displayed:
Your Photosynth profile has been created! You can now close this window and return to the Photosynther.
I close the window and a dialog box appears:
”When you’re done creating your photosynth profile, click OK to create a synth”
I click OK and get back to the “New to Photosynth...” dialog box again!!
Please Help!

Inappropriate?First of all, leave the synther alone for a moment.
When you load up photosynth.net, what does it say in the upper right hand corner? Does it say "Sign in" or something like "Pointcloud9's synths | Sign Out"?
I know that you say you've created your photosynth.net profile and recieved the "Your Photosynth profile has been created..." message. That is certainly a good sign, but let's test it out and make sure that it's working. That way we can know whether it's a problem with photosynth.net or a problem with the synther program on your computer not being able to talk to your account online.
So... on photosynth.net, do you see the "Post a Comment" icon beneath synths? Are you able to leave anyone a comment successfully on their synth page?
Let me know and we can go from there. -
Inappropriate?Hi!
First when I navigate to Photosynth.net is says "log in" in the upper right corner.
Then, when I click "log in" I log un using my live ID.
When I am logged in a link to my synths appears, and a "log out" link
There is no "post a comment" icon beneath synths. Perhaps that is because I have not been able to create a synth yet. But there is an "edit" icon beneath profile. I can edit my profile text there.
Thanks for your help to get this to work. It sure is a bit confusing.
Best regards

Hi,
If you want to post a comment on a synth there are 3 stages to do:
1./ Create an account on photosynth and log in with this account.
2./ Choice a synth to see it.
3./ When you have your choice on the screen you will see the link "Post a comment" on the bottom left. Click on this link and let your comment.
Have a nice day -
Inappropriate?I just tried Installing Firefox as well, but It still does not work.

Inappropriate?Carl,
As far as commenting on synths, I wasn't asking about your synths, since you haven't made any yet, but wondering more about you being able to comment on other people's, much like commenting on someone else's youtube video. It was just meant as a test to make sure that your account on the website was up and running correctly, but from what you say it seems that it is.
(If you'd like to test this anyway, you could visit anyone else's synth AFTER you sign into photosynth.net [for example Banana Joe, Lily, or Boulder Dushanbe teahouse] and see if you could leave any of them a comment. For now, however, we'll just assume that your account exists and works on the website.)
Unfortunately, I don't have too many answers as to why your synther isn't signing in (which seems to be the real problem). I've only read about one other person who has had this problem who actually figured out a way to fix it. They had a long password (17 characters long) and found that once they made a short password, everything signed in correctly. I don't know whether that applies to you or not.
I suppose, give it a try and let us know either way. If a shorter password doesn't fix things for you, hopefully someone from Live Labs can give you a better idea of how to solve things. -
Inappropriate?posting a comment works, but the problem with the create profile infinite loop remains. I'll try getting a shorter password.
Thanks for your help! -
Inappropriate?Hi I tried changing the password to a shorer one, but the problem remains. I think at this point it is probably only with help from Live Labs that this can be solved. How can I get in touch with them ?
-
They do come by the site, but I think that most of their time is spent actually improving photosynth. I hope they get in touch with you soon. As a side note, it might get their attention if you mark something as an error, rather than a question in the future. Also, several of them have posted their email addresses in some of their comments. You can find their comment history here. -
Inappropriate?I'm having the exact problem and have been unable to find a fix. Anyone have any ideas?
Kindest,
T -
Inappropriate?First, try this:
0) Close the Photosynth application.
1) Sign out of Windows Live ID. (Go to http://live.com, click "sign out" in the upper right)
2) Launch the Photosynth application
3) Sign in
4) Then it should work.
If this doesn't work, closing photosynth, sign out again, then go to http://photosynth.net and sign in there, then launch the Photosynth application.
One thing that will almost certainly work, but is a bit frustrating is to create a new Windows Live ID account instead of using an existing one. This is a workaround that worked for some people.
I’m hoping this will work
