Not Receiving Account Verification SMS!
I've been trying to sign up to Loopt today, but I have never received the verification SMS. I've tried sending it about 10 times on my new iPhone 3G, but have never received a single SMS from Loopt. I've received other SMS's from friends, but nothing from here. How else can I set this up and verify my account? Thanks!

T-Mobile G1 and BlackBerry users: Please refer to this post for updates: http://getsatisfaction.com/loopt/topi...
All others: Try the following steps in order:
1) Are you a T-Mobile iPhone users? We can't support iPhones on T-Mobile at this time. The verification process will fail. You're out of luck for now.
2) Try sending a text message with the word START to 29201. Make sure you try registering via www.loopt.com on your computer if registering via the phone fails.
3) Delete Loopt and reinstall it (after trying step 2 above).
4) AT&T users: Send a test email to yourphonenumber@txt.att.net. If it gets returned, you have an SMS restriction on your account and need to dial 611 on your phone and tell AT&T to remove any SMS restrictions on your account (especially one that prevents messages from arriving via yourphonenumber@txt.att.net)
5) If all of the above fail, please send the following info to support@loopt.com:
Phone Number:
Phone Model:
Wireless Company:
Thanks,

Inappropriate?I emailed the requested information a few hours back. Any update on this?
I’m indifferent

our developers are on it! we'll let you know very soon. thanks for being so patient. :) -
Inappropriate?my sms finally came to the phone and then again and again and.... I think I used up all my test messages for the month.
I’m amused
-
Inappropriate?Loopt ignores the zero in my phone number when I try to sign up on my iPhone 3G, which means I never get the text message. I signed up on the website instead and now it won't accept my password on the iPhone.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I still have not received a single text message from loopt and I've tried multiple times from my iPhone and the web.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?tried the phone sign up and on the web but still no SMS. Has been 24rs and no msg. set up my wifes and she got hers within 1 minute.
Ready to give up and try another app.
-
Inappropriate?Same problem here, my wife got her SMS immediately and I have yet to get mine a day later. I've tried on both the web and on the iPhone and have had no luck.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Hi Everyone,
I want to provide a quick update from Loopt. We're still trying to isolate this issue and find similarities between people experiencing it. It seems that it's mostly happening to customers who recently switched wireless carriers, especially those who switched to AT&T to get an iPhone. There may be some lag time between the device activation and when our messaging servers can see that your number has a new carrier. It's a hypothesis at the moment, but if you haven't already done so and don't mind, please send the following info to support@loopt.com with SMS in the subject line, and we'll continue compiling the information as we investigate:
Loopt Phone Number:
Phone Model:
Current Carrier:
Did you switch carriers in the last few days?
If so, previous carrier:
Receiving SMS messages from others?
Have you tried registering via the phone, Loopt.com, or both?
Thanks for all your help and patience! We hate to keep you waiting. We're working fervently over the weekend to get to the bottom of this.

Inappropriate?AAAAAAAAAH
this is frustrating. i am having the exact same problem and i have been trying since the second i got the iphone (3g) which was the day it came out!
I’m pissed
-
Inappropriate?o and i thought i would let y'all know that its not loopts issue its the iphones or at&t's...i figured this out because i tried to send an sms from ichat to my iphone and it still wont work.... i have a real good feeling we will all be getting some large number of texts whether its in 10 minutes or a week. keep me updated cause i want loopt!
-
@tjisameaney Yep, the iPhone came out yesterday and many of us have been having problems. If it was an issue with the iPhone or at&t, it would affect all text messages, but so far most, if not all, have been receiving texts from friends and other sources (I'm getting mine from Twitter) with no problems. Loopt says they're working on it, so I'm sure it will be resolved. -
Inappropriate?I've still had no luck - have been waiting and waiting and waiting!!
Is this going to be resolved soon - this is ridiculous! Can't you just manually approve my account?!
I’m unhappy!
-
Sorry it's taking so long; we know you've been waiting for a while. The developers are working on a fix so we can solve your problem. We'll let you know as soon as possible when this can be done. You will get Loopt, we promise! :) Thx again for your patience. -
Inappropriate?Got iphone on Friday....my loopt account SMS came within 30 seconds.....My wifes iphone SMS came in her old phone which is no longer active so we've tried to resend the link on her iphone and no luck...over 2 days...tried the loopt website to activate and still no SMS....she can receive SMS from me and other friends.....any suggestion.....headache central....any other similar programs??
I am ready to jump ship off loopt
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I seem to be having the same problem but its not on the new iphone. Its the older addition. I don't understand whats going on, because I have had this phone for almost a year already.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Just found out about this app. I am from the 1 Gen iPhone, no changes but yes, I am on iPhone 2.0. I have not recieved an SMS message from loopt yet... It's been a few hours and 5 or 6 attempts, yet nothing has come through direct from my phone or on your website.
I’m not happy. Is this a sign for things to come with Loopt?
-
Inappropriate?I have the same issue on my new 16GB iPhone 3G. The phone is on a family plan and no additional text messaging bundle is added to the line.
I’m sad
-
I'd suggest signing up for a text messaging bundle if you're going to use Loopt. -
Inappropriate?I was contacted by support@loopt.com. They are aware of a problem delivering SMS messages to "some customers"
I was advised to try again in a day or two. -
Inappropriate?All,
Thanks so much for your patience. Loopt just implemented a fix for this issue, and it has worked for several customers thus far. When you have a minute, please try re-registering for Loopt to see if this solution works for you. If you have an iPhone, it is best to try registering from the iPhone itself rather than from www.loopt.com. Please let us know if you still have problems by sending an email to support@loopt.com.

-
Inappropriate?Same. I got an email saying it was working, and it's not. Pretty lame...
I’m frustrated

Hi,
Just to make sure I have you on our list of folks to get up and running, can you please send your number to support@loopt.com with Verification SMS in the subject please? I can't find the record based on your username.
Thanks,
Chris -
Inappropriate?I just got off the phone with AT&T. Apparently if you do not choose a bundle, sometimes you will have "mms opt out" attached to your plan which blocks all incoming and outgoing messages. They have removed this block from my account, added a $5 texting plan & removed it to refresh the account, and added a pay per use package. I was then able to successfully receive the message and verify my account.
I’m happy

Inappropriate?i have the 1st iphone with 2.0 on t-mobile and i still cant get the txt and i have unlimited txt
-
Inappropriate?TB,
Loopt is only supported for iPhones on the AT&T network, so that's why you're not able to complete the verification process. -
Inappropriate? Is it going to be available for TMobile? I was able to set up and account, got the text - BUT- when I click the link, it cant verify my phone.
I’m unsure
-
Inappropriate? We're unable to verify and support iPhones on the T-Mobile network. Sorry!
-
Booo!!!! :-P -
THIS IS FUCKING GAY! IT USED TO WORK, YOU GUYS CRIPPLED IT FUCK YOU LOOPT YOU MAKE SAN FRANCISCO DISGRACED -
Inappropriate?I can 't get it either, I have tried ALL software versions and am now on 2.1 on a 2G jailbroken and unlocked iPhone. I was going to leave Brightkite to come here, but if I am having this much trouble JUST to sign up...
I’m dissapointed
-
Inappropriate?Wow.
Loopt is not doing what it is supposed to be doing.
I have a first gen iPhone in 2.1 on AT&T. I donwloaded the new app but it refuses to send verification. Any ideas? (I tried it a few times.)

pizzahugger,
At this point, there are usually only 4 things that cause the message delivery to fail: 1) You're using T-Mobile as your wireless carrier. 2) You have an SMS restriction. Send an email to yourphonenumber@txt.att.net and see if you receive it. If you don't, you need to call AT&T and have all SMS restrictions removed. 3) You have blocked Loopt text messages. Send a text message with the word START to 29201 and then try registering again. 4) Something went wrong during installation. First, send a text message with the word START to 29201. Then, delete the Loopt application from your iPhone and reinstall it. When you register again, be sure to choose to create a new account. It should work.
If none of these solve the problem, let us know: support@loopt.com
Thanks,
Chris -
Inappropriate?Tried all the suggestions for a fix, yet nothing is working!
-
Inappropriate?i tried that too, still nothin

Inappropriate?I'm still having issues with the verification sms...or the lack there of...I've followed the steps including checking that i don't have any restrictions on my sms and I've sent the start to 29201 thing...still no sms...I have a iphone 3g with att...and i'm not a new customer...any help yet?
I’m confused
-
Hi, Denise. Sorry for the trouble. I'll be happy to investigate. Please send your mobile number to gs@loopt.com, and I'll take a look.
Thanks,
Chris -
Inappropriate?I had this issue too. I clicked the "send a second message" link and the second message cme through...

Inappropriate?I just got my iPhone 3g and user up my account and I don't know what to do to delete my account and start over or anything. I feel very dumb at this moment. Ha ha
I’m Dumbfounded
-
Hi. If you want to start over, just register a new account over top of your existing account using the same mobile number. When you install Loopt and run it on an iPhone, the first screen should offer to let you login to an existing account or create a new one. Choose to create a new one and use the same number as before to start over.
