Inappropriate?Need a little more detail. How was everything set before? What type of cues? Advancing how? Are they timed? Does it loop? What were you doing when your issue ocured? What build are you using? Thwe more detailed the explination the faster someone can help.
I’m happy

Inappropriate? There are video cues at the beginning and the end of the announcement script and the rest are "static" cues...some with a single cue only, others with multiple cues (I hope this makes sense - I'm new to the terminology), each timed at various lengths. There is a script control at the end set to loop back to the first cue (video cue to video cue). I generally add music to this looped script to play during the time when the congregation is entering the sanctuary. It is the same every week.
After that is a series of cues which are advanced manually for worship (hymns, prayers, etc.). I save each week's script and open that script to make changes for the next Sunday. When I realized the announcement script for this week would not advance on its own, I opened scripts from previous weeks and NONE of them worked. I hope this is a bit clearer.
I'm not sure what you mean by what "build" I was using. We have version 3.5 if that helps.
What has me frazzled is that nothing, as far as timing, script control, etc. was changed this week unless someone other that me changed it or I accidentally hit a key and it changed something that I wasn't aware of. Any help would be appreciated -
You may have already done this, but if you haven't, make sure they're still set to advance at "End of FG." Here's how (from the top of my head, so it may not be the exact same - I don't have v3 installed at home):
1. Right-Click the Cue and click "properties" (it might be "cue properties" - not sure)
2. Make sure the dropdown box on the right side (I think it says "Advance:" above it) says "End of FG" for your videos and "Timed" for your static cues.
If it still doesn't auto-advance after that, you've got bigger problems. Let me know if you can't find one of the things I mentioned (because it might not be exactly where I described it to be) -
The latest biuld for 3.5 is 735. If you click on About MediaShout under the help menu it will tell you what build you are using. You can also click on check for updates. This will tell you what build you are on and if there is an update available. -
Build 735 is for Vista users only. The XP latest build is 727. The reason for b735 is for DVD playback in Vista. -
Inappropriate? If it used to work and now it dosent, sounds like to me that some one switched the playback mode to manual. The way I set up the announcments is that each cue is timed, no matter the content. Just make sure there is enough time to read all info. No script conrtol cues. Just set the playback mode to loop while the announcments are running.

I think she's using v3.5 (unless that was a minor build number rather than the major build number), so I think you have to have a "script control" cue. Although, I don't have my mediashout computer with me, so I can't double-check. -
As for the "someone probably switched it" thing, I agree. That's definitely the most-likely scenario. -
Inappropriate?I have never used a control cue in any build of 3 or 4 and never had a problem with the announcments not looping. You just need to remember to set the playback back to manual before you fire up the service.
-
OK, but what I don't understand is if your announcements consist of five different cues, how do you get it to go back to the beginning without going into the rest of your script? She said she has the rest of her service after the announcements in the same script file. -
That's why I'm thinking she has to have a "script control" cue. -
Inappropriate? The announcments are a seperate script with the first slide being the church logo. The church logo also serves as the PC wall paper. This gives me three options for a smooth transition and a fail safe if shout closes or crashes. 1. Turn off the main display in shout, 2 freeze the first slide of the announcments with the projector or 3 use the logo button. Shout will also keep playing the last used media even after you close the script. This is how I usually swtich scripts.

Oh ok. That works. Becky said she has them in the same script though, so she does have to use a script control. Good idea setting your logo as your background in case mediashout crashes. Wouldn't work for us though because our logo has a relatively subtle motion background. -
Try using a first frame shot of your logo as the wallpaper. I always use seperate scripts. If you compare it to plumbing, sure, you may use more pipe, but if you get a leak it is a whole lot easier to isolate and fix. -
I might try that out for awhile. The only [small] problem with that is that the background behind the logo changes weekly (for the sake of variety). For instance, last week it was an American Flag for Independence Day. Around Christmas, it's something Christmas-related; and in between I cycle through a collection of motion backgrounds. -
Inappropriate?Sorry Becky for Hi-Jacking your post. I hope our banter has helped.

Inappropriate? No problem although it didn't really solve my problem. I DO have what I think of as 2 separate scripts each Sunday - one is looped for the announcements and the other is manually fired for the worship service. The looped announcements is the script that isn't working this week. All of the cues are timed (various times depending on what is in them) and the video cues are set to end at FG. There is a scipt control at the end of the looped announcements. I have checked and rechecked each and every one of the cues, deleted and reinstalled the script control, closed and opened the script, shut down and restarted my computer....nothing worked. What is really bothering me is that nothing was changed as far as what I did that would make them stop working this week as opposed to last week and that now ALL of my previous week's scripts don't work either. I was hoping someone would have an idea of something maybe I had accidentally done or something someone else had done when I wasn't there (another person trained someone else to run MS this Sunday since neither one of us would be there). Thanks for the help...at least now I know how to check for what build I'm using!

Inappropriate?By the way, we also have a church logo as our desktop wallpaper although I never thought of it as an "in case of emergency" type thing. I put it there so that it was visible in case people were in the sanctuary when we fired up the computer in the morning.

Inappropriate? Here is something to try. I had to do this for my announcments. First, remove the script control cue. Second, make sure the last cue is a text cue and set the advanced target to First Cue. Third, make sure the playback mode is set to loop. Also if you have all of Sundays cues ( announcments, sermon and worship) in one script, you may want to separate the announcments into a separate script.

Inappropriate?I finally got to work and guess what???? Someone (I'm not naming names but I have a sneaking suspicion) changed the playback mode to MANUAL! I changed it backed to normal and it worked. I'm so disappointed that the congregation didn't get to see my wonderful announcements last Sunday but at least I learned something. Thank you all for your wonderful help! I learned something new and that makes me feel good!

Inappropriate?I sugested that at the very begining of this thread. With all the replies, you probably overlooked it.

Inappropriate? It was your suggestion that I followed and I thank you so very muchly. I wrote your suggestion down on a piece of paper but couldn't do anything about it until I got back to work on Monday. Its amazing how one simple solution can make such a huge difference in how things work. Thanks again!
