Greater flexibility for Stage
Clearly the idea for Stage is very focussed. I can see that a simple, white/black display is great for the singers and musicians, and having a preview of the next screen in the footer seems excellent for progressing through songs. However, is there a performance limitation here too?
I ask, because our church - like others mentioned in other posts - intends to project on the rear wall. That as such is not the issue, but we would like to have sermon notes, and especially visiting speaker slideshows visible up there, so that the speaker is aware of what is on front of house without having to turn around.
Has there been discussion about having an option to flag a cue for 'non-stage' treatment when being sent to the Stage screen? ...or put another way, an option switch to say that monitor 3 will be sent either Stage or Main at any given point in time?

Thanks for the idea (and the great workaround, Alan!). We discussed this ability when in early development of Stage Display. There are 2 main reasons for Stage Display being text over black:
- This development was easier/faster and an extremely useful first step.
- The technology involved in a third display is easy to implement on a desktop computer where additional hefty video cards can generally be installed with no issues. On laptops, the most feasible solutions are USB or ExpressCard and do not provide the amount of RAM and processing power required by MediaShout to act as a full output.
All that to say, this is a 'first generation' feature, and expect to see additional Stage Display features in the future.

Inappropriate?I installed a manual (Belkin A-B) VGA switch in between the video card and projector. The output from the Stage cable goes to the "A" side and because we have a multiple output VGA Amp. running to multiple projectors, we run a extra lead to the "B" side of the switch. The output of the switch runs to the Rear Projector. You have to remember to switch it!
It's not the best but it works for now! Maybe we will get this option in the software someday! -
Thanks Alan, we may do that initially. Split Main and have a switch for Stage. -

Thanks for the reply, looking forward to more great features!

Yes, thanks Nato. The more we see what you can do, the more we think of how to push it a bit further! It's a bit like greed, but hopefully in a positive sense. -
Inappropriate?From: http://gsfn.us/t/45lp
- Will a future build have the capabilities to send KIM messages ONLY to the stage display and not the main display? We at ECC were hoping that MS4 would have this capability. We would like to put a live timer and/or clock on the stage display. Our pastor has been asking for this ability for a while.
I’m confident

Here's a work around for this one. It won't work for all situations, but could help for some.
Create a two page text cue with a black BG. Leave the first page blank. Insert the KIM type message on a line in the second page.
Now when you fire the text cue, you'll get a blank BLACK BG on the FOH screen, and the KIM type message on the STAGE monitor.
You could have a text cue all set up ready to just add the text in 'page 2', and fire it to screen. It could be stored at the bottom of your script, or in Cue Deck ready for easy access.
As I said, it won't work for all situations, but could help for some. -
Inappropriate? The ability to clone the main to the stage would be great for nonlyric slides and for videos

Inappropriate?I hope this will be available soon. We have a guest speaker this week and would like to put his notes on the stage screen. Currently I'm using EasyWorship to do this along with MS4. Blanking out the main screen and minimizing MS4 then use EasyWorship for his script. Painful but it works.

Inappropriate?I agree, this would be a great idea. It will be nice if we can put Keyed messages just on the stage monitor, like "hold the mic closer" or "smile"
I’m excited that the company is considering this.

Inappropriate? You actually can put the PowerPoint on the Stage Screen.
After you import the Slideshow, go to the Stage Settings and change them from Custom text to Standard and then click OK. Suddenly, the stage will display the pointpoint BUT with black background and white text.
As for "mirroring" the main screen information on the stage screen, we've been wanting that flexibility as well. We've been using the "dumb" KVM switch for quite some time (even before MS4) to make teleprompting work. I would love to have it where each line in the script can be set to have mirroring (main and stage show the same image) or teleprompt (main has main display and stage has notes, etc.). We're so close... -
Chris. Thank you. I've been using a kvm switch for powerpoint..I didnt know about changing the setting to Standard. Wish I had seen this 4 monthns ago when you posted it:-) -
Inappropriate?Possibly when playing a video, (not one in the background, but an actual video) have the stage display show the countdown time left in it so people on stage know when the video will be done...
Also, possibly add a timer or clock feature for the stage, pastor asks for this a lot when he is preaching or we have special guest talking...
Just a few suggestions!
