Now that's just dumb, Microsoft. Why would you send me a README file for a Windows Update in the .docx format?
I have this question, too!

Inappropriate? That's strange. for what product did you recv this file?

Inappropriate? It was just a "more info" type link about one of the 108 updates I had to run on a client's computer. It might've been when I installed IE7 (maybe the EULA?). I was baffled that the file was of the .docx variety. Almost like MS was trying to push Office 07, which I don't blame them. It's great business.
I personally think they should've made the Vista-shove a long time ago. (I was a Vista critic, but the product itself is great.) I went Mac long back, but I still encourage people towards Vista Home Premium, for the intuition it gives non-avid computer users.
I’m happy that Microsoft is listening to me, as a Mac user, and an MS End User Support Tech.

Inappropriate?I agree that is dumb, but as a workaround Microsoft provides a free Word reader program: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/de...

Inappropriate?BTW, I've forwarded the feedback to the Update Services team.
And thanks for the comments on Vista Home Premium (running here at home on a couple of PCs).
