When will solar electric power be added to the options?
Solar electric power generation, along with solar water heating, needs to be added to the calculations.

Thanks for all the suggestions. We agree that we need to add support for additional options in Hohm including solar water heating, solar power generation, and other "green" options. We'll keep the community updated as we are able to get these added to our service.
Keep the suggestions and feedaback coming.
Regards,
Karen

Inappropriate?Hi pda,
Thanks for the suggestion. Solar energy is something that we want to add for future releases. We definitely appreciate the feedback.
Thanks,
Travis

Inappropriate? Please add ability to upload solar energy generated data, ideally on a time period that the user can define (e.g. daily), and provide access via an API.
Also allowing home to be subdivided, for example I will have 5 separate solar systems soon, and would like to upload data for each automatically each day, if not each minute. If you do this in a flexible way it could simply allow for sub-division of a home with energy generators and consumers (sub-meters). And yes, I have sub-metered devices with real time load data.
See www.ourcoolhouse.com/monitor/monitor.htm for an example of something that would be cool to implement, but with a Microsoft supported API to contribute data. -
Inappropriate?Solar Photo-Voltaic systems work in conjunction with a "net-meter" that subtracts the PV generated energy from the total used by the house, meaning the kwh value you get from the utility will show only this difference. As other pointed out, you need an independent way to acquire the PV component so that it can be added to the billed kwh.
It would be nice to amortize the out-of-pocket cost for the solar PV system over say a 10-year period so that all energy "cost" is incorporated into the model.
Back to the question of incorporating SolarPV, you should be aware of the standards that are being defined for the SmartGrid to standardize the acquisition and publishing of related home energy metrics. In smart homes, many of the appliances such as water heaters will have individual energy usage measurements, and this information is needed to bring your model into better conformity. -
Inappropriate?Thanks

Inappropriate? In addition to PV I am a Time of Use (TOU) customer, so I pay more during the day (or really make more) and pay less at night than normal consumers. This needs to be accounted for also.,
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Hello KirkN,
Thanks for this feedback. We hope to include various usage scenarios when adding solar energy to our model to provide you with the most accurate data possible. We appreciate your suggestions and hope you will submit others in the future.
Warm regards,
Nicole
