Recently active topics in Mozilla about Ubiquity

I am not getting any transparency with Ubiquity. OS X 10.5.6, Firefox 3.0.9, Ubiquity 0.1.8. Growl installed after Ubiquity installed, reinstalled Ubiquity, no dice.

This command used to work fine, but now it just doesn't do anything. I tried restarting the browser and unsubscribing and then resubscribing to the command.

I cannot use 'google' command. Input: google acronymfinder.com
Available commands are yelp google, add to calendar, translate, 2 delicious commands, and image search.

I suggest there be a deference assuming the input is a command rather than an argument.

I even disabled yelp, delicious, then search, and google is still not in the top five commands.

The new parser seems to have trouble handling pasted text when generating search results. I treat a bit more like a command line than a language parser, so when I tweet about a page, I usually paste a clip from it, then focus on the address bar and type:
tw <paste> this as <user>
Ubiquity 0.1.8 handles this fine, but the 0.5 parser is obviously trying to parse the pasted text and fails. This is a bit better than pre1, where the parser would spin out of control and lock up the entire browser, but it's still not allowing me to use the product with just basic commands. I understand that the new language parsing options are cool, but it won't help much if the basic cases don't work!</user></paste>

Variants of this bug keep being reported, so I am putting a standard response in one place so I can point people to it.

Ubiquity sometimes exhibits strange behavior where it is still installed but you cannot pull up either the command entry interface or use it from the context menu. This is a known bug in Ubiquity.

The first step in troubleshooting any Ubiquity problem is to use the reset feature found under "Troubleshooting Ubiquity" in the help section. Type "help" into Ubiquity or go to about:ubiquity. Be sure to save the URLs to resubscribe to your command feeds and save any commands you have in the command editor before you do this.

If that doesn't work, this problem is usually solved by installing the beta if you were using the release version, and the release version if you were using the beta.

The ubiquity hotkey just stopped working. Restarting does not fix it, neither does changing the hotkey. I am using 0.2pre29

Tried using ubiquity to compose an email using

"email this to friend"

but ubiquity is treating the "to friend" part of the command as part of the message.

When I hit Enter I get sent to my Gmail Compose Message page with "to friend" added as part of the message in addition to my selected text.

I've made sure I can find "friend" when I type it into the "To" field of Gmail's Compose page.

Wondering what the problem is or if there is anyway to check if Ubiquity is accessing my Gmail Contacts correctly?

My setup is,

Mac OSX Leopard
FF3
GMail Redesigned v2.0 plugin
Gmail "Use https" is turned on (not sure if that matters but in case it does)

Was just trying to do a Twitter search for some text in 0.5pre2 under Firefox 3.5b4, and figured I could just type "search twitter <query>" to get going, but as you can see from the attached screenshots the suggestions I was given were very poor. It didn't help that I had some irrelevant text selected on the underlying page, but even deselecting that didn't really improve matters.

I guess strictly you need to type "search with X <query>", but I think it should offer that even if you just type "search <single_word_that_is_a_known_search_engine> <query>"

I've noticed a lag time when calling up Ubiquity (version 0.1.7.1) in FF3.1b3 on my Powerbook. The cursor sometimes takes a few moments to appear. This has never been a problem before.

I live in Bowling Green, Ohio. By default the weather command uses geolocation to look up "Bowling Green, United States". This gives me the weather for Bowling Green, Kentucky.

If the state was specified instead of the country name for the United States, the default geolocation lookup would work correctly.
