Inappropriate?I suppose there could be a long list of reason why the setup could fail, though personally, I've only seen it caused by an error in the localization of the parser...
You aren't by any chance running Ubiquity in a language different from English?
In any case, can you see if there are any errors reported in the Error Console? (Tools->Error Console)
Best regards,
-- cers / Christian Sonne -
I'm having the same issue, running Firefox 3.5 in Italian. I got an error in console about Ubiquity.
Best regards,
Stefano -
Must be something different than the language in my case: my Firefox 3.5 is an Englisch version. Thanks a lot for the hint though, Christian. -
Inappropriate?I have the same issue. Ubiquity .1.9 will load fine, but when I upgrade to .5, I always get the above error message when I open Firefox. I'm also running FF 3.5. Any ideas?
-
Inappropriate?I'm really sorry you are encountering problems installing Ubiquity 0.5. Does 0.1.9 still work?
If you go to about:ubiquity, does the page there display? If so, you can try the "reset" feature found under the "support" tab.

I think I had to uninstall 0.5 properly first, but then the old one works well again. That's the main point - my scripts still work!
But I liked what I saw when I tried 0.5 as long as it did its job... -
this worked for me - thanks! -
Inappropriate?Astruso, what error is in the error console?
Can anyone experiencing this problem check to see if there's an error in the error console and post it here? Tools -> Error console in Firefox. -
Inappropriate? This is the error that I received:

Thanks, Dusty!
As there were so many responses, I reinstalled Version 0.5 again, but I could not reproduce the error so far. At the moment I am working through my code, commenting in the single methods and trying to adapt the code to parser2. If I find anything that seems related to this error I'll let you know if my error message reads the same.
Good luck to Heather and the others so far!

Inappropriate?Great, thank you for the additional info. This is a bug we are looking into. If you want to watch progress on it you can see it here.

Inappropriate?dissabling parse2 was needed for getting Ubiquity working on Spanish firefox (it seems also that Spanish is not supported yet anyway, unless "$" is some kind of wildcard for your systems language). Now lets start to learn ubiquity.
I’m thankful

Inappropriate? This is still an issue for me after the latest update.

Inappropriate?samdu,
Which version of Ubiquity and which version of Firefox? Are you able to use Ubiquity at all or does it not work? Are there any errors in the error console?
Heather -
Inappropriate?I'm in the same boat as samdu. I'm running Firefox 3.5.2 and Ubiquity .5.4. The only way I can get Ubiquity to work is to uninstall and re-install .1.9.

Inappropriate?I got a slightly different error; my error console shows:

Is this the same error? Is this covered with the current ticket?
I'm using 0.5.4gold (latest Beta) with Firefox 3.0.10 on Linux. -
Inappropriate?I'm getting the same "setup failed" notification in firefox 3.0.13 - but my error console says it's a browser error:
Error: Ubiquity Setup: TypeError: menupopup is undefined
UbiquityPopupMenu([object XULElement],[object XULElement],[object XULElement],getAvailableCommands)@chrome://ubiquity/content/popupmenu.js:99

When I click on chrome://ubiquity/content/browser.js it highlights this line of code under jsm.UbiquitySetup.preload(function ubiquitySetupWrapper()
Cu.reportError("Ubiquity " + msg); -
Inappropriate?I've got the same problem.
I'm running ubuntu 8.04 + Firefox 3.0.14 + ubiquity 0.5.4
I’m confident
