How do you open the Ubiquity dialogue box
Ubiquity will fail unless you make it easy to figure out how to use it. I've downloaded and spent 30 minutes trying to find any description of how to get the box to use it

Inappropriate? The first time you start your browser after Ubiquity has been installed, you should have been taken to the page: about:ubiquity - did this fail to happen?
In any case, if you go there now, you should be able to see(and change) the keyboard command that opens ubiquity. If you have installed the development version, there should even be an interactive tutorial on how to use ubiquity (though I'm not sure it's 100% done)

Inappropriate?Yes, it failed to happen. I go the tutorial that told me what the problem is, how Ubiquity solves it if one were able to open the dialogue box but nowhere did it say how to open the dialogue box. I thought it was control + space but that doesn't work. I'll try reinstalling.

Inappropriate?I don't think it is installing. It downloads, it tells me it has to restart firefox but then I don't think it's actually installed. I hope they get it to work. It sounds cool.
-
Inappropriate? That sounds odd - what OS and what version of Firefox are you using? (and which version of Ubiquity are you trying to install?)
What happens if you type "about:ubiquity" (without the quotes) in the location bar and press enter? -
Inappropriate?Firefox 3.0.11
Windows Vista
url not valid
I tried in on a Windows 7 machine and it installed and worked fine. -
Inappropriate?I reinstalled firefox and tried again but no luck.
-
Inappropriate?Well, yes, that means it doesn't get installed. You should be able to access "about:ubiquity"... Are you installing it from the addons homepage?
-
Inappropriate?Yes, installing it from: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fire...
-
Inappropriate?or trying to.
-
Inappropriate?Where am I supposed to type about:ubiquity? In the address bar?
-
Inappropriate?Typing about:ubiquity into the address bar should bring you to the built-in documentation, which tells you if it is installed or not. If you get the "URL is not valid and cannot be loaded" message, it is not installed or not enabled.
I think there may be an incompatibility between 0.1.8 and 3.0.11, but I have absolutely no idea what is causing it. (or if it really exists) -
Inappropriate?I am currently using ubiquity 0.1.8 and firefox 3.0.11 and can access the about:ubiquity as well as open the ubiquity dialog.
Ubuntu 9.04 though. Possible Vista problem? -
Inappropriate? It also works for me using that combo of ubiq/fx on Windows XP and Mac OS 10.5.6.
-
Inappropriate?Works on Windows 7, fine. Guess it's another reason I wish I never heard of Vista. I'm switching my business to Macs in 2010 when we are scheduled to replace computers.
-
Inappropriate?Works fine (and always has) on my Vista...
