Can't send Word documents directly from Word (version 2002).
i can't e-mail directly from Word anymore, since Thunderbird auto-updated. the error it gives me is:
Logon failed. You must logon to Microsoft Exchange to access your address book. Error code: "Unspecified error."
is there a way to stop the updates in the future, as well? it wouldn't let me not update it.

Hi all.
Thunderbird 2.0.0.23 was released the week of August 20, 2009. Please upgrade to 2.0.0.23 and that should fix the problem without requiring any registry fixes (but if for whatever reason you can't upgrade to 2.0.0.23 see above for Windows registry fixes).

Mirko:
As promised, assuming you are using the English version of Windows, the following registry files should fix it:
1. 32 bit Windows: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachme... (comment 13 of bug 384731)
2. 64 bit Windows: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachme...
(comment 53 of bug 384731)
Bug report with the above two fixed (If you are using a non English version of Wiindows, you will have to edit the registry yourself using the registry keys in this bug report) :

Inappropriate?Disabling updates is like refusing vaccinations: you're at fault if something bad happens which you could have prevented. However, if you must, just open Thunderbird, go to Tools, click the Advanced gear in the 6th tab, click the Update tab, and uncheck "Automatically check for updates to Thunderbird" OR just click the 'Ask me what I want to do' radio button under "When updates to Thunderbird are found,".
I don't know how to resolve your issue, I'd normally suggest making Thunderbird your default by going to Start, Settings, Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs, Set Program Access and Defaults, and changing your e-mail program to Thunderbird.

I am running Word 2000 SR-1 and have the same problem. WindowsME does not have "Set Program Access and Defaults" under "Add or Remove
Programs". Thunderbird indicates that it is the default e-mail server. What should I try next? When will there be an update to correct update 22? -
Thanks Tom, for getting us fixed up. (at least, most of us)...sorry manly. hopefully, he can help you still... -

Inappropriate?I'm using excel 2007 and had the same problem. I followed the steps that Thomas gave to set Thunderbird as the default email and that fixed my problem.

Inappropriate?also worked for me, great. any clue as to why it suddenly stopped working?
I’m thankful the problem got fixed, but still confused over why it happened.

No idea, but I'm glad to hear it's fixed. -
I don't know what swap.exe is... who makes it? -
Ok, so, you said it doesn't work with Swap.exe. That fourth bullet has two "if that didn't work, try what's in these links" links at the end. Have you tried those?

Inappropriate?Thomas,
I did this too.
After setting Windows Mail as default client I ran TB as Admin. After that MAPI still fails.

Inappropriate?Setting the RegKey according BugZilla to
C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird\mozMapi32_InUse.dll
Makes it work.
It's probably an error in installing TB as default mail client. Maybe the problem is also that I tun TB as non Admin user.
Thanks for the help. -
Inappropriate? To get the "send to" or mail attachment (under "file" ) to work again was simple (although the few instructions I could fine on the MS help site were not - and Mozilla and the rest assumed the reader knew somthing already - so not a lot of help to those of us who neeeded it most)
Just go to Start ... left click (in classic - similar if not classic menu) ... then to Set Program Access and defaults ... custom (expand) then choose a default email program. Simply change it to whatever you want - I was using Thunderbird so I changed it to outlook and then tried it from a Word document . It worked - then I went back (as above) and changed it back to Tbird and all is well..... just got lucky...
Hope it helps. -
Your instructions are the same ones that I gave in the first reply, but the problem is not everyone has Set Program Access and Defaults in their start menu. -
Inappropriate? This trick did not help me.
In my case it was a register setting that gave me the MAPI options of TB back. -

Inappropriate? This is a known bug. The solution is available at https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=499958. It basically 0.22 that introduced a bug that messed up the registry. You'll find files to fix the registry on the bug.
One file is for normal windows the other one is for 64 bits versions of windows.

Inappropriate? When trying to email pictures from Picasa I get an error message that says "Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Office Outlook and set it as the default mail client."

Inappropriate? This AM Thunderbird downloaded an update. Since I restarted Thunderbird, I can no longer email directly from Excell or Peachtree like I could previously. I have checked the default settings and my default email program is set as Thunderbird. I also made sure that Outlook is not set as the default, since I do not use it.

Inappropriate?Hello! I am a professional photographer and have been using ACDSee Pro 2.5 and Thunderbird successfully for many years now. The 2 come together with the "send via email" command. Since upgrading Thunderbird to version 2.0.0.22 ACDSee cannot complete the operation, thus reporting an error. Could someone look into this? I already asked ACDSee's customer support and the procedure suggested by them does not work.
I had trouble also using the right-click "Send to" and "mail recipient" but this was solved changing internet defaults to Outlook and letting then Thunderbird recheck itself as default program. The problem persists when using ACDSee...
Many many thanks,
Mirko Wenter

Assuming you are using Winwos, please set Thunderbird as your default mail client and all should be fine again. if not the Windows registry files earlier in this topic thread should fix it for you.
