Install updates loop
I am in a lnstalling updates loop and can not get out of it. and can not open Tbird.
One or more files can not be updated.Please make sure other applications are closed and that you have permission to modify files, and then restart Tbird to try again.

But something similar will exist for sure on the sites for other languages as well. At least the advice worked, to delete the whole content of the update folder under C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\%Benutzername%\Lokale Einstellungen\Anwendungsdaten\Thunderbird\Mozilla Thunderbird\updates\ (again only the german link, but should be similar ...)
After the deletion of the content of the update folder I was instantly out of the updates loop and thunderbird started as usual.

OH's suggestion about the German link worked for our Vista with problems. Note that we did NOT have a Logitech product installed. For the user, version 2.0.0.22 had gotten stuck in a loop, and by deleting the update folder in the user's data area (and previously moving mozmapi32.dll out of the T-bird folder), we got T-bird to install 2.0.0.23 without problems. It had already installed for the administrator without problems! -

that link is no longer operable. Forget the update; can I install the new version on top of existing? I downloaded Tbird 2.00.22 and have missing or corrupt mozMapi.dll. can you send a valid link for download?
