Can I watch movies on my Mac?
I cancelled my Netflix subscription earlier this year, but I heard that some people can watch movies on their computer. Is that available for Mac users? When I was a subscriber, it wasn't yet available to me. Anyone know if it is now?

They've been saying that for a LONG time. It won't happen for an even LONGER time. -
Inappropriate?I've read some blogs that said this would be ready in 2008, well here we are. does anyone know anymore?
I’m still waiting
-
Inappropriate?Yes, in fact they promised it here: http://blog.netflix.com/2007/08/insta...
I’m a former Netflix subscriber.. and Mac user
-
You should contact them, the blog links to the 'netflix community', get them to start whining here... maybe netflix will then join in. -
In fact, I have. Still working on it. -
Inappropriate?I'm a current Netflix subscriber & a 20 year Mac user. I would love to be able to watch Netflix movies instantly on my Mac. This new dilemma is just another microcosm of the Mac users struggle with the software industry in general, which in the grand scheme of things, gives little consideration to Mac users and has compelled many of my other Mac friends to run tandem PC/Mac operations just to fill the void. Call me a dreamer, but I'm reminded of an old childhood ad that crystalizes my hope for an increase in the percentage of Mac-friendly software. "We are Flintstone kids. Ten million strong, and growing!

Inappropriate?Im also a long time Mac User... I just got the Roku NetFlix Player. Its awesome. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I'd rather watch movies on my TV anyway. So I think this could be a good solution for all those other Mac people out there....
-
I agree it's *one* solution, but it's not really *the* solution. I would hate to see them skip real Mac support, or even slow down that effort, because of the Roku box. -
I like the Roku box idea....but why can't it just run as software on my mac. -
Inappropriate?I wouldn't mind just plain AppleTV support. It's very possible to write apps for the AppleTV, even with the latest versions.

Inappropriate?I the world of dual platform support for iTunes and Hulu.com you'd think Netflix could get their act together.
I’m a Mac
-
I'm a mac too and I hear on the newer macs they have scroll bars so you can see that Netflix has already said that there will be mac support by the end of the year (this was posted in the thread 6 days ago). Fortunately GSFN e-mails you new replies so you'll be able to see this in Mail.app :) -

Netflix CEO Says Macintosh Streaming "Details Shortly"
On the earnings webcast this evening Netflix CEO Reed Hastings said that the 2nd generation Netflix streaming player software will support Windows and Intel Macs, and they will be "announcing details shortly."
Netflix is expected to use Microsoft's Silverlight technology to support the Macintosh and the Firefox browser. The timing is right: last week Microsoft launched Silverlight 2, and Netflix demonstrated a Silverlight version of the player in May 2007. -
Inappropriate?Man up kids. You made the choice to be a MAC owner. Either get a PC or stop crying about it. I love the MAC but I cannot complain when I have to wait for one thing or the other, this is the MAC way. I would not be shocked if Apple asked Netflix to slow down MAC development. Itunes is the Ultimate walled garden it is the Apple way, Apple wants to see that protected. You own a MAC and Apple pretty much owns you, that is the way it is. Netflix realizes this and will come up with a way to support the MAC. Apple never let anyone build a solid business on the MAC alone......Well maybe Photoshop that combination has rocked the house since day one.
I’m unconcerned

There are so many things that are incorrect in this statement I'm not sure where to begin.
You're right, we should never ask for things or encourage developers to hurry up and sell things to us. You're right, there are no 3rd party Mac-only software development companies that are doing extremely well (and producing better software than any comparable piece of software on Windows). Yes, Apple wants to own 100% of the experience, so they would never open-source anything like their web browser or the bowels of their operating system, and they secretly desire to be the only author of software for Mac OS X!
*sigh* You've got some studying to do. Please do it before making comments like this. -
Inappropriate?I think Netflix is holding out on Apple until they allow the Flash plug-in for the iPhone. Just sayin' It goes both ways.
-
I think Netflix is releasing it soon as they already said they were on the earnings statement that I linked and quoted 2 days ago, but hey, just sayin' reading is hard. -
Inappropriate?yes you can
Now, watch as people come in, answer no, don't read any other posts, and continue whining about something that's no longer a problem ;)

Inappropriate?Took out a two week trial membership on Netflix. Have a MacBookPro. Have ordered DVD's and have been streaming movies steadily.... what a blast! I did have to download
the program listed above. It was simple and it worked beautifully. There is now a one month free trial listed above . Why not try it? Every movie and TV series you
could want is availabe. Good luck and enjoy!
