Comments on NN 08
YK 07 was a hard act to follow, but NN 08 did a pretty good job. I am sure that many of my comments have already been expressed, but here goes:
Austin is a great town. Happy to bring NN to Texas. Thanks to Lloyd Doggett for attending. It was great to have Brad Miller there, too. Very unpolitician-like and more like an interested citizen.
Too many sessions. I hope that they are available via audio or video so that I can get the ones I missed. Little time to go to exhibits, either. Re: exhibits, if there are box lunches to buy for those who want to hang around the whole day, you can do that in the exhibit area. There are likely prohibitions on that kind of thing in the hall. The coffee stand was closed later, but I guess they did have sandwiches. Had I planned ahead, I could bought something there, I guess. They had too few people working, as well.
Poor communications. Richard Clark's session was switched and the info presented about it on Thursday night was inadequate and I could find out nothing about the change on Friday, so I missed it. Volunteers did not know and there was nothing that I could see posted.
The Saturday night Donna Edward speech situation was a disaster. I had gone to all sessions on Saturday and to the movie screening. There was not time to get dinner, according to the schedule, but had I known what was really going to happen I would have eaten beforehand. Keep to schedule, fewer comics, less chit chat, less fundraising during the session. I was tired and faint with hunger, so I left.
Given the complexities of these things, it went remarkably well. Lots and lots of good content. Great panels. Even some theater! Maybe I will volunteer with planning next year.

Inappropriate? There is content up on Ustream.tv ( http://www.ustream.tv/netrootsnation ) now but we'll have a better quality version up within the next month on our website.
We apologize about the Clarke miscommunication but there are often last minute changes in speaker's schedules that require these changes. We'll try to figure out a way to get this information out better in the future.
Saturday night, while I think short of "a disaster", was less than flawless. We've noted these scheduling/production mistakes in order to avoid them in the future.
