Power outlets in event rooms (set up power strips)
I often clustered with people near the back in some of the panel rooms to be near a power outlet, and several times I almost ran down my battery due to back to back panels where I couldn't find an outlet near a seat, and had to stop taking notes or checking web sites the panelists were talking about.
At a conference so full of bloggers, we clearly have lots of people with open laptopts. What if we supplied the event rooms with power strips providing multiple outlets near the seats in the middle of the room?

Inappropriate? This is a good idea but it isn't as simple as it might sound. Each convention center has its own house rules which may or may not prevent this kind of thing. I can't remember whether it was Chicago or Vegas where we wanted to do this and were told we couldn't.
There is also a cost associated with this, but it is a high visibility sponsorship opportunity.
We will definitely ask this question for Pittsburgh and do what we can.

Inappropriate?Great idea. Please find out from the conference center if it is possible and cost effective. If not, getting a supply of power strips would be good...ones with extensions that are long enough that they could at least be taped down on the sides of the rooms which takes care of safety issues and allows more access than just the back of the room.
I’m excited!
