Can I disable NR some way on per-box basis?
I have a set of hosts in our production cluster, but I do not want to buy NR for all of them since they all are identical. Can I disable NR some way on per-box basis? All boxes are deployed with the same environment - production - so it is not clear how could we deploy the stuff to all of them with only one box reporting to NR.

Inappropriate?Hi Alexey,
Right now we don't have a built-in way to disable RPM on a selective basis for otherwise identical machines in a deployment setting. While I agree that in many cases RPM in a subset of your environment can provide you with much better data than nothing for all as it relates to tuning your site, it is better still to have RPM watching all of your production mongrels to detect problems that creep in to specific hosts (we see this all the time: a rogue query on one host can send a VM into a tailspin, or load balancing problems, etc.)
I imagine that through some scripting or config environment changes you can work your way around this issue in the short term. One possible solution is to create a new runtime environment that is a clone of production but has RPM enabled, and run in that environment on a subset of your hosts. I realize that this is not ideal but it might be able to get you there where you need to go in the short term.
Thanks and regards,
-Lew
