Possible to have one paid host and one free host?
I have one host on bronze. I wanna move my main site and subscription to a new host, but I'd like to keep a hobby project going on the first host. Can I just keep an unpaid account going on that one?
I'm not gonna pay a subscription on that one, do I have to cancel my subscription altogether to be able to see multiple hosts? Because that'd be silly.

Inappropriate?Hi,
You do not have to cancel your subscription, but you will need a second account as we currently require all hosts to be at the same subscription level per account. Simply create a new Lite account and then install the license keys for each account (Lite and Bronze) into the appropriate agent configs as you would like to have them connect.
Thanks,

Inappropriate? Are there any plans to change this? We're a web agency and run many single host sites. Having an account for each would work out very time consuming.
Obviously, your main focus has been on the higher-end setups, but I wondered if you have plans in this area for the future.
Thanks -
Hi Stephen,
For single host sites you'd only need one account for each site. It's only for folks with multiple hosts where some are paid vs. Lite that they need two accounts. You can have as many hosts as you need in an account, but the account can only be at one subscription level. Please let me know if I haven't correctly understand the problem you have.

Inappropriate?Hi Jim,
The issue is that we have a mix. Some sites are hosted on the same server whereas others have their own.
Ideally, we'd like to monitor all but different clients will have different requirements when it comes to budget and level of service.
Also, currently, there is no way for us to say 'ok - make this host paid for''. We trailed subscriptions a little while back, only picking 1 host charge - the host that ended on the paid account was just the first one we added.
I understand that separate accounts obviously solves this, but it would become quite a pain managing all the separate logins.
For me, the ideal solutions would be either:
1) Being about to chose the subscription level for a given host
2) Separating users from accounts - so a user can have access to multiple hosts. This way the client could sign up/pay and be we could access under one login
I hope this is useful feedback - I really enjoy using the service - you guys have done a fantastic job.
Cheers,
Steve -
Inappropriate?Hi Stephen,
I think we have some good news for you. We do allow your solution #2. Here's how it would work. Create an account for each of your clients with them as the primary account admin. They pick the subscription level. Then, have them add you to their account with admin permissions. Your primary account won't change, however now you'll have access to that account as well as your own. Once you have access to more than one account you'll notice a "Switch Account" link at the top of all pages. There is no limit to the number of accounts you can have access to.
Will this work for you?

Inappropriate? That sounds very cool. That solution would certainly make it easier to manage multiple sites.
Also, I'm guessing if we *really* wanted a combined dashboard view, we could use the API.
Great stuff! -
Hi Stephen,
Glad to hear this will work for you. And while we don't have a combined view yet, you're right that you could build one with the API. Thanks!

Inappropriate?Stephen, also have you thought about the New Relic Affiliate Program? It is designed for web consultancies like yours where you are using RPM for customers, and providing RPM to customers. Take a look here:

Let me know what you think.

Inappropriate? Thanks Bill, I'll take a look. We've just got our first client signed up, ready to upgrade their account and the 'switch account' feature works really well. Might be good to expand this by having a drop down box for quick switching - but this is great - thanks!
I’m happy
