We'd love it if we could implement a real notification feature, but we're currently waiting on Apple to roll out their "push notification" service for the iPhone. They announced this feature a while ago, but have yet to make it actually available to app developers. You can read more about that feature here: http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/09/ip...
The 1.04 patch included the addition of a badge to display the number of games in which it's your turn -- but that number won't update unless you run the application. When Apple releases push notification, we'll hook that up to the badge, and it will behave just like the badge for your e.mails and text messages. We're very excited about that!
But in the meantime, we are trying to work in options for e.mail/text message notification as a temporary workaround. Stay tuned for more details!

Inappropriate?It's not worth it to do a temporary solution. I'll be happy just waiting fir push to become available. Please concentrate on features that won't become obsolete before too long.

Inappropriate?If working on multiple platforms, as mentioned on other threads, is a priority for newtoy then some notifiation system above and beyond apple's as-yet nonexistent push notification has to be a priority.
Sure for iPhone users a badge, as and when one can be used, would be useful, but for everyone else email notification is pretty much indispensable; and I think most people here would
Like the community of users to be as large as possible, not limited by something as arbitrary as iPhone ownership...

Inappropriate?I don't necessarily need a txt or email, just the badge update without having to run the application would be AWESOME! Keep up the good work, this game is the best one out there. Can't believe you don't charge for it

Inappropriate?I don't know the difficulty involved but maybe a link between chess with friend account and twitter to link a text message without have to create a text message server could be a quick interim solution.
