Inappropriate? We would love to bring Chess With Friends to as many people as possible. We'd love to hit every platform if we could!
For the time being, however, our resources are a bit limited in terms of being able to port to other platforms -- and though we love the idea, we're more focused on the iPhone at the moment.
Still, we are very excited about the possibility, and are working on it bit by bit. -
Inappropriate? Why don't you look at an online version?
The guy who made/makes http://64squar.es is very friendly and open to ideas, and there's already a massive community playing there - and the interface is really nice too.
Perhaps you could do some sort of joint venture, so we could all benefit form each other's communities?
PM me if you want his details (he's a friend of mine), or contact him direclty... -
Marcel, I checked out 64squar.es and it's slick! Can you drop us an email at contactus@newtoyinc.com? We'd be interested in talking about this further.
Thanks!

Inappropriate?Hi Marcel,
Thanks for the offer! We're currently looking into all possible options for adding web-based access to Chess With Friends. We'll let you know! -
Inappropriate?yeah - web based would be great. my dad is bound to a computer, but we'd like to be able to play chess while i'm on my ipod touch.

Inappropriate?I agree with all of this. A desktop app is great. However i can understand a Web 2.0 app to be more developer friendly for now. But its a great idea. You can continue your games that you normally play on the movie on any browser and even against people that dont have an iPhone. Put this nr 1 on your roadmap.
I’m excited

Inappropriate? It would be great if you could add an application for Google' Android operating system.
I’m happy
-
Inappropriate?Yes, this is interesting. I would also suggest extending the interface to access ICC, and World Chess Live. They both are owned by the same company and has the same programming interface. So, the client software should be able to support both the sites, thus covering a very large user base in one attempt.
I’m excited

Inappropriate? There are lots of other desktop internet chess options. If you had a desktop interface the temptation to pull the game into computer analysis would be very high. I like CWF the way it is, because it encourages me to analyze the position only in my mind, without other aids.
-
Inappropriate? In my opinion, the most appetizing platform you could expand to is Facebook. It's got the largest community ready to play.
As an example, see how successful that poker game by Zynga has been. Or those other few games by Playfish.
CWF is great because it allows for asynchronous playing of games (for now only chess ones). If you can neatly port that concept to Facebook I think it could be a serious hit.
I’m excited
-
Inappropriate?I've found that Facebook already has an application that performs exactly as CWF... It's called Chess and is provided by Chess.com.
It would be great if the two game bases could merge together.
I’m excited

Inappropriate? Are there any plans about this yet?
-
Inappropriate? And symbian too. some of my loser friends still have crapy phones

Inappropriate?I have swapped my iPhone for an Android based HTC Hero, and now I have no chess with friends :-( Is there a development effort on this. I would like very much to help out? I have iphone & android dev experience.
-
Inappropriate?I too would like to see CWF on Android. When I had an iPhone, CWF was the best chess game on the platform. Now that I switched to the Moto Droid, I've been missing Chess With Friends and would love to see it ported!
