i want to merge our group's facebook fan page and our ning network
I think the Facebook and Ning integration is the key to making a network really work. When people upload photos on facebook, it should be seen on the ning network. What if people opted into a ning network related fan page or facebook group page that synced info (like new photo uploads, status updates, blog posts, etc) to and from facebook and ning. Would that be so hard?

Inappropriate? The reverse is possible. I have a feed from my Ning network to Facebook (Twitter too), but you have to do it from Facebook's end. And I'm not talking about Ning's Share app, btw. What you suggest is possible Mark, but would require much work and take some time to make happen.
I’m indifferent

Inappropriate?I finally worked it out to share by blog and my forum But I would like automatically upload my photos and videos, and those of my community.
I have a successful community, but I wouldn't leeching off Facebook's 70 million users to get just a few million interested in what I have to offer.
I’m sad but excited to for NIng to see the potential in this strategy.

Inappropriate?Thunder X and Enhager, can you describe more fully what you are doing?
-
What enhager is doing is using Ning's own Share function which few people use since they don't know it exists, since it's practically unnoticeable. At the very bottom (usually on the left side) there is a link that reads "Share". You click on it and you have several options of where you would like your blob, forum, video, photo, etc to be displayed: Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, etc. What I did was more involved, however, which involves connecting all of the available social media sites to one another, then to my Ning site. Long story.
You can also use Networked Blogs to publish your Ning blogs directly to facebook, or you can add an RSS app to your page, and even publish your blogs through Facebook's Notes.Netowrked Blogs is the best bet (though I use all methods). NB is great for SEO and your content is syndicated widely. -
Inappropriate?I used the Notes function on Facebook to RSS feed the forum and Networked blogs to RSS feed the blog automatically onto facebook. I would like to also RSS feed the photos but will only do it as text.
I’m sad

No. No photos enhager. -
Inappropriate?Everytime I use Ning's SHARE feature it will only express the home page with the standard description, and not the page or photo I want to really share.
-
That's because of the network's privacy settings. For you to be able to share your content on other social networks, the Ning network you are sharing from must have it's privacy settings set to "public". You should ask the admin or NC to make this change if it is that important to you to share your content. -
Inappropriate? Now, apologies all if this is a bit convaluted!!! I have a few things which are confusing me?!?!
I couldn't figure out how to use the Notes fuction on FB to RSS feed through from the network.... so if anyone could give me a guiding hand I'd be greatful!
The share function on ning is great, however like Sandi, it will only feed the standard home page descriotion of my network to my personal profile on FB... I wish I could express it to my Facebook Business / Fan Page?!?!
My Ning network is private to members, with only the home page visible to the public... and I wish to keep it that way... However I have found that despite my network being private, I can still feed any RSS from my network through Twitterfeed to Twitter... the status on twitter shows the Title & Description of the RSS with a link... when the link is clicked it takes you straight to the registration / login page of the network which is perfectly ideal! ;o) (Unfortunatley I am not having the same joy with the latest Twitterfeed / Facebook update!!) ;o( So my point is that it is possible to display the ning private network RSS on Twitter... So why is it not possible to 'share' to facebook in the same way?
-
.... to avoid the problem Sandi & I are having with the 'share' facility on ning... you can bypass by feeding any RSS from your network (inc private networks) through Twitterfeed directly to your business / fan page on Facebook... -
Inappropriate?ignore that, found it...
