Update Needed for HTML Pocket Reference
When will a new edition of the HTML & XHTML Pocket Reference be released? The 3rd edition is woefully out of date. For example, it references Internet Explorer 4 and Netscape (!) 6. Not only is that 4 versions behind the current IE release, there is no mention of Firefox, Safari or any other mainstream browser!

Hi, Carla,
Thanks for taking the time to share your assessment of this book's current utility. I've contacted the author to begin considering plans for a revision. So much changes in three, quick internet-years, doesn't it?
Just curious, speaking of the rapid state of change: would you use this (updated) book if it were in electronic format, such as for iPhone, Kindle, other devices, PDF?
Best regards,

Inappropriate?I'm a bit of a bibliophile, and I like to be able to hold my books in my hands and turn their pages, so electronic formats aren't my first choice. However, for a book like this, that is designed to be a reference for such a dynamic space, I think an electronic format would be incredibly helpful. It would be a great way to allow the consumer to access updated information without having to release a new edition of the book every six months.
I do have to say though, Firefox has held a large share of browser usage since long before 2006, so I would say that the exclusion of Firefox from this book is a considerable oversight.

Inappropriate?Boy, do I agree. Whup us upside the head for not updating this sooner!
I’m sad that we didn't keep this up to date!

Inappropriate?Hi Steve/Tim, just downloaded (bought) the HTML/XHTML pocket ref on my iphone and there is a whole chapter missing. Nobody is actually doing nothing to fix it.
the part that is missing is the (X)HTML elements (the whole section actually)
Thanks
Pablo
I’m frustrated for having to contact you instead a simple help desk.

Inappropriate?Hi, Pablo,
I've asked one of our customer support specialists to look into this immediately. Sorry for the perception you have that no one at O'Reilly is doing anything to fix the issue, or that you find using Get Satisfaction a choice you'd rather not have to use when it comes to customer support queries. Actually, we'd hoped that Get Satisfaction would help more people, more efficiently, while also delivering a quicker and more personal support experience for our customers.

Inappropriate?Back again, Pablo.
Turns out we fixed the issue and submitted an update to Apple over a week ago -- we're just waiting for them to approve it. I know there's a backlog on everything in the apps queue at Apple, but hopefully it won't be much longer until the update comes through.
I know my message doesn't help you right now, but if you send me your email address, I can send you the missing material in either Word format, or Word-converted-to-PDF. Just email me (steve@oreilly.com) and let me know.
Thanks,

I’m Happy. web2.0 works. I had the chance to contact top executives to fix a very simple thing. The process failed but they don’t. Now, they’ve got a lot o more happy customers and I have what I have paid for. (and, like O'Reilly books even more now. I wa
