How does Otherinbox work?
I'm still trying to get my head around how Otherinbox works in terms of email addresses and how to use them. Also what if otherinbox.com email addresses get blocked after the product becomes popular?

Inappropriate?Hello, pendolino.
The ability to use an unlimited number of OIB email address with your OtherInbox is one of the great features our power users have taken advantage of. It helps you to know how companies handle your email address.
You may find this getting started guide helpful to understand how multiple email addresses work.
Last year, our founder Joshua Baer discussed the idea of using multiple email addresses (comparing how we do it to using Gmail with plus addresses) that you may find informative as well.
In what way are you concerned about OIB email addresses getting blocked after we become popular?
Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

hi hoon - some spam blocker email services used to change their domains regularly since they would be blacklisted by sites that wanted people's 'real' email address.
currently the emails i am using with otherinbox all end in otherinbox.com. is there a chance these will become blacklisted as well by various sites and services or is there something i am missing? or do you recommend we use our regular email addresses (not otherinbox.com) and otherinbox sorts them from there? -
good question. -
Please format this "guide" in a proper manner so that one can read it without getting eye cancer. ;) (Means: Subtitlses and (sub-)paragraphs etc.!) Because else it looks like it's stolen from MySpace! -
yes there's something wrong with the guide as linked above in terms of formatting. its unreadable. -
Inappropriate?That's a great question!
The awesome thing about OIB is that you don't have to give out OIB email addresses to take advantage of our service. You can use your regular email address (like Gmail for now) and we can pull those messages into your OtherInbox for you.
If there are messages from a specific site that you think we're not finding, just let us know. We always need suggestions on more messages to recognize.
Also, we believe that these other sites will actually find some value in having their users use OIB email addresses (it's better than someone using a disposable or "junk only" email address).
I’m happy

thanks for the clarity. what if i have more than one gmail address? can they all go into one OIB account? -
Right now its one Gmail account per OtherInbox account. But in the future, we'd like to make it so that you can hook up as many as you want. -
Inappropriate?can I create a new inbox 'on the fly'?
like I want to create impornt@myid.otherinbox.com
so I just type that email into the subscribe field on a site and the inbox is automatically created?
I’m undecided
-
That's exactly right, raw.matter!
When OIB receives the message, the email address used routes where it goes. If no mailbox exists already for that email address, a new mailbox is automatically created. -
cool, thanks. I figured it out yesterday lol
