Argh, Sarafi 4 and Coda not playing nice?
Coda's preview doesn't seem to refresh accurately with Safari 4, but when viewing a page IN Safari 4 everything looks OK. Thoughts?

Inappropriate? It's working fine over here -- can you give us a little more information about the steps you're taking, what you're expecting, and what you're seeing?
Or a sample page showing the problem? -
Inappropriate?Erm. Weird. Another restart of Coda fixed it.
Anyhow, in case it's useful, a div was not rendering with the spec'd padding and background image. Looked right in Safari and FF, but the Coda preview window wouldn't seem to refresh. I should have cleared the cache I guess, but I've never needed to before, so... Is caching handled by Coda or is it in Webkit?
Anyway, thanks for the reply. You guys make great software!
I’m silly
-
Inappropriate?I'm experiencing this as well since installing Safari 4 beta. Changes made to linked stylesheets do not reflect on the HTML page despite refreshes and complete restarts of Coda.
I do have the newest build of Webkit installed alongside Safari 4 if that's worth anything If anyone needs more info let me know -
Safari 4 is still a beta after all. I'm going to revert back and hope nothing was seriously damaged or messed with.
And to ditto M. Hale above, Coda is a sweet sweet piece of software. -
Inappropriate? We're going to look into this a little bit more. Something does seem a little wonky somewhere...
-
Inappropriate? Thanks Cabel. I haven't seen it recur but I'm glad to know you're looking into it.
-
Inappropriate?This is very wonky!
I can barely use Coda at the moment, its stuck caching everything, JS/HTML/CSS/Image files maybe PHP if I noticed it when I think I did.
My copy of Safari is playing ball perfectly, Coda on the other hand wont refresh after quitting sometimes.
Its not going to put me off Coda, but its a pain at the moment, kinda liking Safari 4...
Thank Cabel
I’m indifferent
-
Inappropriate?I am also having this problem and it doesn't seem to be limited to external stylesheets. There seems to be some image-caching issue too. For example, if I update an image the old one stays in Coda's "Preview" even if I change the dimensions. Other things still update as I edit the HTML. Pressing "Refresh" doesn't solve these issues either.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Yeah this is true, I posted in a different topic before I noticed this one here are my comments carried over, anyone have the same issues:
"
1: I have just upgraded to the newest beta of Safari 4 and the caching in Coda has become more apparent than ever before. Even after quitting the app itself and relauching, it is still caching information from hours ago!
Cabel is right (and a God for finding this out) holding the "Alt" key while clicking on the reload button works perfectly.
On the other hand you cant hold the Alt key and use Cmd+R the combo just does nothing.
Strange but at least part of an answer.
2: Oh and even more interesting is that the issue doesn't appear cached in the Safari preview. That really made it wierd!
3: I take it back, the issue is still there, after every combination of keys along with reloading still now solution.
(Still perfect in Safari though)"
I’m puzzled

Inappropriate?Try
Righ Click --> Reload
It worked for me.
But I am uninstalling safari 4 going back to 3

this answers the question

Inappropriate? An update: we have isolated a bug in Apple's Safari 4 implementation that is affecting Coda. We've filed a bug with Apple and will try to work with them to get it fixed, but in the meantime, uninstalling Safari 4 is the most reliable fix for now. :)
I’m tentatively optimistic
-
Inappropriate?Thanks Cabel...

Inappropriate?Right clicking and selecting "Reload" works for me too.
-
Inappropriate?I know this is a month old, but yeah, right-click > reload is the way to refresh.
I'm guessing there's a difference between the two methods within Coda, and Apple stopped fully supporting the method that the button uses. All Panic has to do is switch the button to do what right-click > reload does. -
Inappropriate?while the problem certainly seems to stem from the Safari 4 beta, I'd like to mention that it persists after the Coda 1.6.4 update.
It is problems like these that make me aware of how dependent I am on Coda (in a good way!)
I’m hoping for a solution
-
Inappropriate?Yes. Apple still hasn't gotten back to us with a solution. Maybe hope for a Safari 4 Beta Two soon?
-
Just out of curiosity (and if it won't take an essay to explain), why do the Refresh Button, and the Right-Click > Reload methods work differently? -
Inappropriate?I find the issue is a lot more reproducible when editing site off of the filesystem (file:///) when I'm doing other local sites through say mongrel the issue doesn't seem to come up nearly as often.
I’m sad
-
Inappropriate?I'm still having this problem. Is there any news now that Safari 4 is out of beta?
-
Inappropriate? This problem was fixed in Safari 4 Final.
If you're still having problems, you might want to send us an e-mail and we'll see if it's the same thing. -
Inappropriate?Thanks for the quick reply.
I just reinstalled Coda and it's working now. -
Inappropriate? We use coda a lot .. but we will no longer be using it as we have had this issue on and off for a while and now it seems to be every time we use Coda. Whenever we make changes in the css, the preview window in Coda refreshes, but there is no change, even if we delete all the contents of the css file and save/refresh!
We are not going to use Coda again .. it's just a waste of time and it's costing money now. :(
