Double Clicking Variable names in PHP

When you double click a Variable in PHP it used to highlight just the varialbe name and not the $ character. Now it grabs the whole thing. Can this be changed in options back to how it was as I find it incredibly annoying especially when using classes eg: $Classes = new Classes;
